Hi everyone, well this is a life changer for me, I have now finished work and start my new job in 3 weeks time. Work has meant I haven’t looked after myself properly.
Now it’s time to do exactly that, I am doing my first run tonight, I am so nervous. I am more nervous about neighbours seeing me huffing and puffing! I am determined though.
Any words of wisdom are very welcome.....

Welcome PoppetPandy. Firstly dont worry about your neighbours, you'll look great! Go steady, take it easy and read up on the guide for new runners that's hanging about here somewhere 😎.
Get out there and do it and dont worry what others think!
Excellent. Welcome to the forum and to running. As somebody said to me, Don’t worry about what people think- they don’t do it very often! Actually, most of them will either have fellow-feeling or wish they could do it.
Do find the pinned post from IannodaTruffe on FAQs for new runners. It’s full of great info and helpful links to other topics.
My best tip is to run slowly. Most people rush about too much at first (I did). Waste of energy. As long as there’s a point in each stride where both feet are off the ground, you’re running! Enjoy the programme. 😄👍
Welcome aboard! By the time you've done your 5 minute warm up walk you can be out of your neighbourhood so no worries about people seeing though to be perfectly honest runners tend to be invisible.
Congratulations on putting you first. It's not a selfish act (many feel guilty about putting their welfare first) A happier you can only have a positive impact on those around you.
Thank you all, I can’t wait to get started. Plenty of reading to do. I forgot about the 5 min walk, I will be nowhere near my neighbourhood then. I am sure I will be ok once the first run is out the way.
This forum is very inspiring as there are so many people similar to me who started as a non-runner.
