Cold And Windy Parkrun.

β€’19 Replies

I heard the wind howling outside my window this morning and I really didn't fancy it, my bed felt far too comfortable πŸ›ŒπŸŒͺ. But then I thought.. You've been looking forward to this all week, you'll regret it if you don't go... get out there you πŸ”... And so I went.

Glad I did, really enjoyed it. Parkrun volunteers are legends, standing out there in the rain and wind, freezing and cheering us on. I feel like I should bring some chocolates or Haribo or SOMETHING to show my appreciation... I really need to volunteer, maybe next week.

Anyway, happy running everyone and enjoy your weekend.

Well done for getting out there in the wind and rain, clubberlang! Parkrun volunteers are just the best, aren't they? Was it a lovely route?

β€’ in reply toDebston

They are community warriors! Yes it's a lovely run around a lake and through the woods. It's always windy around the lake though... And I really don't like the wind πŸ˜©πŸ˜‚

Well done, it was horrible weather but I got there too. Can’t believe how many runners did turned out in the rain and cold. No fair weather runners here πŸ˜ƒπŸ‘πŸΌ

Exactly Dottie, that's what I thought. All those people running and I would have been in bed. πŸ˜„ I thought there might be a small group of hardcore runners, but hundreds showed up.

I love Parkrun, but I’m doing a 10k next Sunday so I’m marshalling next Saturday. Looking forward to it actually.

Awesome, hope it's nicer weather than today πŸ˜„! Good luck with the 10k!

Thanks Lindsey.. Hardest part is getting out the door. You must be getting close to graduation now? πŸ‘©β€πŸŽ“πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ πŸ˜„

It really is isn't it? It never is hust a matter of putting the trainers on and going unfortunately! Yes, I am just starting week 8. Due to run today but might take a second rest day and go tomorrow instead. The end is in sight....or should that be the new beginning is in sight!

β€’ in reply toLindsey-joy

Definitely the new beginning. πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ‘Š

Well done. Mine didn't go quite as well as yours unfortunately. Although I made up for it once I got home...

Just read your post. It's a funny thing running with people, I've looked at my watch thinking I'm going too slow and I was absolutely flying, PB pace. It can be very hard to judge.

Still, on the whole it sounds like you had a great day.

It is odd. I actually set my parkrun PB on the same course last week, but this week my legs were feeling far too enthusiastic and I just could not rein them in. It was only ever going to end one way and I'm just glad that I got as far as I did, and was able to "make amends" once I got home.

Just remember how you felt after your parkrun you wouldn't have felt like that if you'd stayed in bed . Well done you 😊

I felt great as soon as I left the house Buddy. It's just getting out of that front door! πŸ˜‚

Well done you!!! I had similar misgivings whilst snug in bed this morning. But I got up and did my run and I’m glad I did. Well done. X
