W6R3. A beetroot, 2 lead weights and a long pause

Well that’s one I’m glad I don’t have to repeat! But wait, I do, three times no less!

Hope they go better than this one did 🤞

All was good till I realise how hot (that’s the beetroot in case you were wondering) and thirsty I am around the end of the warm up walk, despite drinking my usual pre-run amount. ‘Ah well, I’m here now so might as well stick with it. Maybe the lead weight legs will feel better after the toxic 10 is over’ thinks I.

Oh how wrong I was! But I kept going, passed the halfway bell, turned around n slogged back up the ginormous hill (in reality a gentle incline).

Around halfway back across the field I thought ‘Jo Whiley should’ve piped up by now surely!’ Duly checked my phone to find Jo Whiley has popped herself on Pause n nipped off for a loo break n a cuppa so I’ve no clue how long I’ve been running for, I just know it’s more than 12 n a half minutes

Luckily I know where I am when I start running so I just pressed Play n managed to persuade my lead weight legs to run till I got there. Strava says I did 35 minutes 11 seconds altogether so I guess I ran for about 24 minutes

Feel a bit cheated now cos I didn’t do 25 minutes n it wasn’t my fault. N I was sat on the settee when Jo declared I’d finished ☹️

Well done! It will get easier during the next runs. Once I got to week 6, I learnt the times because the app did stop on me a few times...well done you!

Thanks, I think I’ll set a separate timer as a backup in future ⏱

That was an eventful run Jill...its strange how some runs we overheat so much (me too) I’m blaming hormones for mine 😂 Well done on completing Week 6...Hello Week 7 ! 🏃‍♀️

Hmm, could definitely be hormones, hadn’t thought of that. It was the thirst that confused me, I’d drunk plenty, same as I always do. I reckon that accounts for the lead weight legs. Bit annoying as I took an extra rest day so they were fresh lol 🙄😂

24 is the new 25... I’d say you completed it. Great job.

I don’t take on water before I run... if hydration is good you don’t need it and anything you drink just before a run isn’t going to help much if at all. What you drank yesterday will have a much bigger impact on the run. Sip water all day every day.

Enjoy week 7... the legs will appreciate not being pushed up again, it’s a nice mini consolidation week.

Thanks! I wish I could convince my brain that I’d completed it lol 😂

When I said I’d drunk my usual amount pre-run I meant throughout the day. I’ve been drinking roughly 2.1 litres a day since I started C25k, sometimes more, so I don’t really understand why I was thirsty, I’ve been fine every other run 😕

Looking forward to Week 7, I really enjoy the longer runs, apart from today 😂

You should be fine there then... I get the odd day where I’m thirsty pre run, and haven’t put my finger on the cause yet.. but it’s rare.

Tell your brain to check out the progress... tell it you’re amazing now... the difference in 25 and 24 is a lot less than 0 and 1!

That’s very true, I hadn’t thought of it that way. Thanks for the tip 😁

That’s good to know about the occasional thirst pre-run, I’ll watch out for it in future 👀

Wow Jill, you’re doing amazingly! I know what you mean about feeling a bit cheated though. You’ll make up for it in the weeks, months and years to come 😁🏃🏻‍♀️

Thanks! I’m having a brilliant time, but I think that’s partly why today felt like a bit of a letdown. But yeah, I’ve another 3 25 minute runs to come now so that’ll make up for today 😊
