W7R3 legs feel like lead

Fridays are one of my scheduled running days. My legs felt like lead when my wife and I did our usual mile and a half morning walk. Perhaps I should take an extra rest day; but due to the Covid situation I prefer to run on weekdays there being fewer people about during the day then.

So I set off around my usual time thinking that this run might just be the run that I might have to quit on. Five minutes in and I’m feeling more puffed than usual. 12 ½ minutes in that’s half way and I’m not doing as badly as I had expected…….then 20…then final the final 60 secs!

So after almost talking myself out of running today, I’ve completed week 7!!!! and don't feel any more tired than I do after any other run.

Edited to add; I've just looked at Garmin Connect. Even though I thought I was plodding around slowly today. My pace today was 10.28 min/km down from 10.42 on my last run, and down from 11.10 on my W6R3 pace.

Well done.

Heavy legs can be symptomatic of poor hydration. As a runner you need to drink a minimum of 2.5 -3 litres of fluid each and every day, running or not, as mentioned in the guide.

My hydration levels were around normal. Last night I went to bed slightly early and could have remained in bed longer than normal. I just put it down to just being one of those days when my body or mind was telling me I wasn't up to par. Despite the gremlins; going out running proved otherwise.
