Just completed the 2nd run of Week 1 after allowing myself to get seriously unfit. I found this run harder than the first, my legs felt really stiff during the warm up walk. I did the run after a 12 hour night shift which probably didn’t help either. I completed it though and according to Strava I did better than on the first run. Run 3 on Monday. Onwards and upwards 😀

Great for completing your 2nd run this plan is amazing stick with it 😊
Well done - getting started is the hardest part! Stay hydrated on run days and rest days. And often the second run does seem a bit harder. But you can do this. Just trust in the programme and learn to run nice and slowly! That was the key for me - learning that my run could be slower than my brisk walk. At the start you are building strength and stamina and it is hard at first (I’d also let myself become seriously unfit) but this is a great way to gain fitness - and does something lovely to the old noggin giving a great boost to mood and general wellbeing. Don’t worry about pace at this stage - it’s really about duration, and it all counts just the same if you run slowly, but you lower the risk of injury. This is an amazing journey and a very kind and supportive forum here to help you on your way. Good luck!
Thank you both for your comments and support. I am determined to succeed with this. It’s great to read about the progress of others at different stages of the journey.
Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

Enjoy your journey.
Congratulations arjd72, it takes a lot of motivation especially after a 12 hour night shift to get out there and run. Hats off to you! Good luck👏👏
Snap! I could hear that little voice on my shoulder making excuses not to go, but I did it. The beautiful sunshine made it a bit better. I've downloaded Strava but not used it yet, maybe next time. I tried using my Nordic poles as I have some foot issues and it did seem to help once I got used to running with them and stopped nearly tripping over them. Well done us!
