Back and ready to go 5k again

Hello

Completed couch to 5k about 3.5 years ago and was running 5 k regularly for a while. About 2 years ago I sustained an ankle injury which saw me stop running and I have attempted to regain my fitness levels ever since, starting c25k from the beginning 2-3 times, only to give up again.

I am not a natural runner, nor will I ever be, I have always kept fit through dance but running is more than just about fitness it is a psychological challenge.

Yesterday I went out to start again, I did it, easily, without any struggle. I will skip to week 2 for my next run. Once the days get longer and I can go out in the evenings I will smash this. I live in the country with no streetlights or pavements and work 7:30 - 18:30 so have that challenge too!

2019 will be the year I can run 5k again!

I am in the same position, in 2007 I was able to do 5k in a respectable 35 minutes but due to injury I had to stop and weight pilled on. I have tried a couple of times over the twelve years to get back to it but weighting more and more made it harder and harder. I have decided that 2019 is my year.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started

This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

I would suggest that you don't try to smash it.......slow, steady and gentle progression is the key to injury free running. C25K is about building stamina........speed comes later.

Enjoy your journey.
