Back again, starting again

Hello all, just popped back in as I have started doing C25K again 6 years after first doing it.That 1st time was a success and I had 2 lovely years of running doing 10Ks, half marathons, GNRs and all sorts.

Then Covid happened, my asthma flared and one thing after another meant I haven't run in 4 years.

So here I am, back again, I've already noticed a couple of old friends from the past are still here and involved (MummyCav, OldFloss) so who knows who else is still around.

As before I aim to post regularly and if I can help anyone starting out or struggling a bit I will be absolutely delighted to do so.

For the record, just done Week 1, Run 2.

Run happy, run safe.

Hello Chris 👋 Nice to see you back again. Great to hear you are starting C25k again. You did so well before and were a real encouragement to me when I started 5 years ago. Good luck and look forward to hearing about your progress!

Hi Sandie, great to see you are still around. As ever with me, once I have made my mind up I am in a hurry to get going so the plan is to try and get up to 5k by maybe mid Jan, from experience, once you manage to complete that dreaded Week 5 Run 1 then to be honest you are pretty much there, it's just a matter of doing the final few runs to nail it down. Then I will see where to go from there but all subject to change and a slow down if it's to much of a challenge in that short time.

Hope you are all set for Christmas etc!!!

Quite a few of us from the Class of 2018 have stuck together, both in person and virtually. We have a terrible habit of egging each other on to parkrun milestones, 10k, half marathons, Great South Run and in some cases marathons 🤪 Jump across to Bridge to 10k and you’ll find lots of old friends there 😉

Hello! Here you are and here I am!!I've just about repeated C25K for the umpteenth time.. last run Week 9 Sunday...I hope!

You've has a rough time.. but, you're back amongst friends...and they will support you, as you will share your experiences too!

Slow and Steady as you go...yes..I'm still banging on about it..

Don't push too hard..just let things evolve and, if you feel you need an extra day rest.. go with it.

Pop into the S and F Forum for some great supportive exercise ideas and the Catch up Corner too..

New posts out tomorrow!.

So good to have you here ...old friends are always welcome x

Hello Chris, Its great to hear you are able to get back to running again.

I hope to start again myself after Christmas, just having a rest on the IC while my crocked knee recovers.

Good luck and enjoy!

Hello Chris, I'm in a similar situation, in fact i could have written that post. Great that you're back out there again too. Sometimes just getting started again is the hardest part isn't it. I've got the dreaded 20 minute run on Sunday. Good luck, looking forward to seeing your posts. Happy running 🏃‍♂️ ☺️

I'm sure you will ace it on Sunday, my trick with that run 1st time round was to pick a mini playlist of 3 songs that I knew added up to 20 mins and not even look at the time on the phone etc.I went for the epic 1st 3 songs from U2s Joshua Tree but obviously whatever music works for you would be fine.

You've got this.

Great that you are back. I started running in lockdown and its the best thing I ever did. I take lots of exercise in other ways with other people but I always run on my own and ,unusually for me, love the solitariness of it. The posts on this site have helped me not to get frustrated if I have to have a couple of weeks off for painful knees or back which occasionally happens and to just get back out there when the joints recover. Thank you all and have a great Christmas

welcome back. Always worth the effort. I too started this 6 years ago and had a lapse due to life but so glad I’m back and determined not to stop again - my brain feels it benefits as much as the poor old body I drag round

Well done coming back. Recently graduated my second time (after 9 years). It was harder this time, and I am slower, but mentally it really helped to remind myself how much I loved running. It’s a wonderful thing to do over winter to keep active.
