Well done for getting out there and doing this. Lots of us here in the same boat. I’m a mum of 3 too. I started at the beginning of December and could barely run for 60 seconds. Last night I ran for 25 mins..... you can do this.
Well done for getting out there. C25k is such a good way to get started and will guide you through the 5 minute warm up and cool down walks, as well as the running parts, so you don’t have to worry/think about it. Don’t feel bad - you have made a start - and did you say you ‘only’ ran for 3-4 minutes, first time out?! A lot of us struggled with 60 seconds on our first runs, so you are going to be just fine 🙂
Hi kainaat, first of all good on you for taking the first step and getting out and getting started. I am a mother of 4 and same as u I am only 4lbs over my ideal weight so not that overweight but also like u I want to loose some stubborn fat in certain areas and of course get fitter and healthier along the way. Today will be my 1st run in over a year so I’m dreading to see how long I can actually run for before having to stop for air. Please don’t beat your self up about it.... give your self a big tap on the back for getting up getting out and doing it don’t worry how long u ran for that will come the more u keep at it. Good luck for run2 ☺️
Thanks. I made a mistake of just start runnin straightaway. When downloaded this app thn i gota knw that u hav to walk first to warm up. Follow the instructions and hopefully u will be fine. Happy for you 😊
I took my dog so done a brisk 5 min walk to begin with and then into a light jog wasn’t as bad as I thought I actually enjoyed it, will be leaving the dog behind next time mind.... glad I took the plunge and look forward to the next one 😁
Welcome to the team! When I started I couldn’t cope with 1 min but now I’m starting week 8 and can run/shuffle/plod for 25 mins. Stick with it, and remember slow but steady
Actually I decided yesterday and just got out of the house and start runnin, whn I couldn’t do more thn 3-4 minutes I got so upset so i came home and googled and thn i found this app and downloaded it. It says to walk for 5 mins and thn jog for 2, so tomorrow I will follow the instructions and lets see what happens, will keep u updated 😊
Are you going to use the OneYou couch to 5K App? If so, its 5 min warm up walk, run 60 seconds, walk 90 seconds, repeat this 7 times then run 60 seconds followed by a 5 min walk. I used Jo Whiley as the voice coach and really like her style. You can also set your own music going and the music goes quiet when the voice coach pipes up.
Welcome and I’m pleased that you found the app... I had a similar arrival here until that I was getting nowhere with a different way. Take it slow and steady and you can do this.
Like anything else, running is a skill that needs development, so you won't be able.to just sling on your Nike air Max and belt out a ten miler. Like everyone else, when I started I actually thought the program was designed by a set of deviant sadists that hated me, but I managed to up my running to over an hour and a respectable 5 miles or so, before a knee injury brought me low.
Stick to the plan, come on here and tell us your woes, and generally complain and celebrate at appropriate times. We'll be here until the very end and beyond if you'll let us.
You will be absolutely fine! Promise! That’s what this thing is all about!! Everyone here is super supportive too. Everyone is always out of breathe and doesn’t even know how to run when they first start. But slowly and surely they build themselves up and become more acquainted with it and can run for longer and longer. You’re doing great!
