Running for 3 minutes?!

W3R1 done but I didn't think running for 3 minutes would be that hard! Maybe it's because I still don't have any new running trainers? Went to the running shop this morning but they didn't have any that fit. Turns out I thought I was a 7, in my normal life I squeeze into a 6 but in running trainers I'm a 8.5?!?!!!

Anyhoo they were really nice and are ordering me a size in a pair of very comfy trainers (which were more than I wanted to pay but feel worth it even in half a size too small). They may end up being a very expensive ornament if I can't run longer than 3 minutes which is looking likely! πŸ˜‚

Did you have a gait analysis?

Buying expensive running shoes without a gait analysis, or prior knowledge of your running gait, could be a very expensive waste of money and cause you injury.

Yeah the lady got me on the treadmill first and I'm neutral but she just didn't have any big enough for me! 😊

Good!

They will be a great investment in your health and fitness.

Are you committed to having them once they arrive? Because you need to make sure they are right before you part with the hard earned, especially if they bust your budget. Anyway I hope your next runs go well. Remember slow and steady gets the job done and done with less chance of injury.

Just remembered, there was someone on here who ran in walking boots for ages, so I think it's a case of running in footwear that fits as much as anything - assuming there are no major gait abnormalities

Wow in walking boots? Well I'll stop moaning about my fashion trainers 😊

Yeah the lady said she will get some other neutral styles in for me to try in case the bigger pair don't suit.

I will try and remember the advice slow and steady too thanks 😊

I think I found every week tough at the start of the programme and it was only after week 6 that I started to look forward to the step ups in distance and believe that I could run. Ive just bought my first running shoes today and finished week 8 today on a real high. I don't think I would have appreciated them so much in the early weeks to be honest because at that point I was concentrating too much on not dying from the effort of each run to consider whether shoes would have made it easier. As you progress and start to move into the longer runs where your breathing settles and you can really enjoy the feeling of running, then I'm sure you will notice a difference. Good luck on your journey through the programme.

Thankyou! Hearing that really helps me. Thought I'd find runnng for 3 minutes not too bad but it was. You've given me hope that I will eventually get there 😊
