Mild arrhythmia and a fail - anyone else?

I've very mild arrhythmia (heart occasionally beats irregularly and fast - I'm not on any medication). So I've been taking it easy and repeating runs - after 4 weeks I'm only just finishing Week 2 which is frustrating! Mostly enjoyed the other runs and it's been fine, but today I was starting the second run and the arrhythmia started, which meant I had to slowly walk the rest of the route home. I can't think of anything that could have set it off (illness/caffeine/cold weather). Really frustrating and I don't know anyone else with the issue and whether to just ignore it or perhaps accept that running just isn't for me - and I'm a bit fed up.

Running is definitely for you. You are doing the right thing by taking it slowly and backing off when you need to. I'm assuming you've already discussed this with your GP because we're not qualified to give medical advice.

Lots of people take a lot longer than 9 weeks to complete the nine stages of this program so don't give up.

The other thing is there are so many colds and bugs around right now, you could be coming down with something, we tend to feel it in our running before it presents itself. Always ask your Gp’s advice he might have some tips and tricks for you.

Thanks and good point about the virus - I'd forgotten that can be true.

Yo Maz ! You think you’re bored: it took me nine weeks of repeats to conquer week 1. I’ve been here three months and I’m still working on week 3 ! Not all of us can just bash straight through this. You have to take it at the pace that works best for you. I just want to pass on the First Rule of C25k: The only run you fail is the run you don’t go for ! You will get there, and we’re all behind you. Relax and enjoy your journey x

You’re certainly not failing a run, you got out there and did some running, and you only stopped because of your medical condition. That doesn’t mean you’re not going to be a runner, it just means it may take you longer to go through the plan than you’d like. Repeating is fine, you will get to the end as long as you don’t quit, and you’ll have more miles in the bank for any repeats that you do do... great job so far.
