Perhaps I started this at the wrong time of year???
Got up at stupid o’clock to go for my run as usual, and it’s pouring, have run before in the rain and it’s no fun, add to that the dark, and it’s a step too far for me.
So, checked trusty weather app, Friday morning is looking good and then Sunday morning, although raining at least I’m not working so can run in daylight.
Had to repeat W8, as struggled too much with it last week, I don’t mind, running is running for me, I’m not so much worried about the 5k bit, I just want to do enjoyable exercise, so onwards!! 😂

I read posts like yours and feel a bit of a fraud being able to pick between the bands of rain. Really hate water going down the back of my neck. Around 12 today seems to be a dryer spell so that's my aim. Much impressed by your efforts.
I don't blame you! I don't mind running in the rain, but not the dark. We have no streetlights down our lane, so it's pitch black. Even with a torch I just know I'd fall over or slip on something!
Well, it’s the outdoors, innit? We read similar posts during hot summer weather and there will be more when the temperature drops and icy patches kick in.
Generally speaking we have three options: 1. Ignore it all, drop the game, go back to the couch with a fag and a glass
2. Run inside on a treadmill, at home or gym, like a hamster
3. Just go out there, dress appropriately and run, rain or shine.
The bottom line is the willingness and sense of achievement in pursuit of our goals and how much we want them.
Yukky weather, but count yourself lucky you weren’t a C25K summer runner and had to slog through that heatwave! I began in June and graduated in August so slap bang in the middle of it! Even now, I’ve only run in the rain a couple of times.
I know the dark mornings and evenings aren’t ideal, but running when it’s cool is (in my opinion at least) so much more pleasant.
Good luck on your journey, you won’t regret it, and hey, the shortest day is less than a month away, so it’s practically spring! 🤔👍😅
