Today was a W4R3 for me today but I changed my mind.
Because it was cold and wet?
Nah... I put on compression leggings and top and extra layers in the form of a loose running top and shorts. Finished off with a neck warmer and a baseball cap to keep the rain out of my eyes. No rainproofs.
Actually my other half was doing her 10th parkrun coinciding with parkrun's 14th anniversary. So I decided what a fantastic way to break my parkrun virginity.
Has anyone mentioned it was wet this morning? πΈπ¦π§π¦β
This was my first wet weather run.
And my first parkrun.
And it was awesome! πΈππΈ
Our local is 3 laps.
Lap 1 was great. Shuffling along nicely. Thanking the soggy marshals πΈ and running next to my beloved, chatting away.
No problems.
Lap 2 - also went well. Cannot believe we were getting lapped so soon into lap 2! Still OK and keeping up with Mrs Kaunas.
Lap 3 was difficult. I wanted to stop and walk but I wasn't sure I would be able to get going again. Mrs Katnap stayed with me and we crossed the line hand in hand. πΈππΈ
I'm delighted to have completed my first parkrun today. Supporting Mrs Katnap (although I think I should say she was supporting me) and celebrating parkrun's birthday by taking part.
Back to the plan now. I don't want to be on the injury couch!
Happy running everyone! πΈπππππΈ

Brilliant! π And did I read correctly that you were βchatting awayβ whilst running?! Kudos. I havenβt tried, but thatβs because I know Iβd be monosyllabic! π
Isnβt parkrun fun? Itβs an addiction, and I canβt wait for next week.
Have fun on the rest of the programme. Something tells me youβll be smashing it big style! ππππ
It was an honour to run with you Katnap and it was especially lovely to cross the line hand in hand. No way I was going to leave your side. You really are going to smash it once you graduate.
Well done Katnap, We will let you off for breaking away from the c25k programme for parkrun this once, especially as you were in such capable hands. It was great that you and your lovely TailChaser could run it together - that is what parkrun is all about. Hoping your kittens will also be joining you soon. π―π―π―π―
Luckily the rain fell after our parkrun finished but it was a bit chilly.
Happy birthday parkrun. I even recruited to more members while marshalling.
Thatβs great Katnap well done on your first park run, good for you getting stuck in even though it was chucking it down ππ itβll be great to watch how you progress on the course next time when youβre further ahead! πββοΈ nice that you were able to run with your other half too - spot on!
Thanks ThunderSloth. I'm waiting for a ticking off from an administrator for potentially taking myself closer to a stint on the injury couch!
I will be relieved to go back to 7.5 to 8 minutes per km or whatever energetic shuffle my legs will let me do...
Haha! π you might get away with it this once as it was a special anniversary π€ either be good ...or keep it schtum from now on, or youβll be back to the cattery πΎ
