I'm off to do my first park run tomorrow at Hinchingbrooke country park. Feeling nervous and excited at the same time. Any tips from experienced park runners?
Am I able to wear headphones, as I'm not sure I would be able to run without music!!

That's awesome. You'll enjoy it. Make sure you report back!!
I’m sure the headphones won’t be a problem as long as you’re aware of other runners around you. Happy running !
Yay Sandi! So glad to hear you’re biting the parkrun bullet. You’ll love it! 👍🏃♀️😀 Report back don’t forget!
I’ll be doing mine too, complete with dog attached to waist (hey, maybe I could train her to pull me up the hill ....... 🤔)
Good luck! 🏃♀️😀
Hinchingbrooke is a lovely parkrun, you’ll have a good time I promise, my ‘home’ parkrun is Milton Country Park - Cambridge, very similar terrain. I’d recommend having one earphone in, with ‘in ear’ earphones, that’s what I do, so I can hear what’s around me, and thank the lovely marshals.....(I’ve just bought some bone conductor earphones which are awesome) i’m a bit slower, and do get lapped - they keep to the right/overtake on the left at Hinchingbrooke.........it’s the opposite in Cambridge....😂
There will be a first timers briefing, don’t be afraid to approach anyone if you have any questions, all the volunteers will be in high vis, go along, join in, and most of all don’t forget your barcode!
Oh and report back here and tell us how it goes.....i’ll be thinking of you on my way round Milton tomorrow - i’ll be with you virtually! 🤗
Have a good one - by the way if you haven’t guessed, my name is Madge and I am a parkrun addict 🙋♀️

That’s one reason I like Montrose. Single loop course so can’t get lapped!
I think single loop park runs are something of a rarity though unfortunately.
I'm not a fast runner so am expected to get lapped lots! Hehe!
A few weeks back Montrose was off so I went to Stonehaven which is a three lapper. I did get lapped by several people but on the other hand I did myself manage to lap the tail walker! The parkrun Facebook page this week has a link to an article about single lap parkruns. I suppose we have more room for them in Scotland! Of course you can’t get lapped in an out and back course either
Makes me appreciate my local parkrun all the more though: single loop, not too crowded (typically 100), very flat but with varying landscape and running surfaces so it doesn’t get boring. m.youtube.com/watch?v=nwXNM...
Just enjoy it! Re headphones, I never use mine at parkrun as I like to be aware of other runners and park users but some people do use them and no one seems to mind.
Enjoy your first parkrun! I love my local one. I don't use headphones either... But some do. Have fun!
Haven't done the Huntingdon PR. I always used to wear earphones at the Peterborough PR so you should be ok.
Have fab time Sandi 😁
Oh have a GREAT time and tell us all about it! How exciting! My advice (and it's hard to control it) is to keep YOUR pace and not get carried away by others who might be faster. You need your own tempo to get tbrough it. YOUR way.
Have a fantastic run!!!
Thanks for the advice, but my legs won't carry me any faster than what would be my normal slow pace. I tried a run with Nike Run Club the other day that tried to get me to run as hard and fast as I could for 3 minutes. My split time was only fractionally better than my normal pace. So I think I will be quite safe tomorrow!😆😆😆
Hope it went well Sandi.
