I finished the course, I came last, I failed my W9R1, I am drained and I cried when I crossed the finish line but I feel like a winner because I completed my first park run albeit by a mixture of jogging and walking. I managed to jog for about 15 mins following my warm up walk but my legs had nothing in them, I think the heat over the last few days has just zapped my energy and the tank was empty. I received so much encouragement from the other runners and a volunteer stays with the last person (me) and pushed me to finish the course with my final jog. I got a great reception at the finish line, I even got a picture taken and was given a
t-shirt. I completed the course in 52 minutes incl warm up walk and still feel like a winner.

Well done on your first running event. I found my first 5k race very emotional, thinking back to W1R1. Don't worry about the walking, 2+ years on and I still often walk during my events. It's a whole new thing to learn, with all the excitement and the people. I wish we had Parkrun - it seems like a real supportive running community. Sounds like the people are wonderful. You did great. And got a T shirt!!! Will you be returning next week?
No....I will wait till I have graduated and have built on my time and distance. I need a break for a few days anyway. The heat over the last few weeks has made it very hard for me but Wednesday (hottest day) drained me i think and need to recharge my legs. I might go for a few short 10-20mins before I tackle W9R1 again.
Ugh. Running in the heat is miserable. If it's hot I give myself a gold star for getting out the door no matter how much walking vs running. The act of going outside and trying is the success. But then autumn hits and running feels so much better.
That is a huge achievement... You did it!!! Well done and that's a great picture. Hang in there and remind yourself of what you have accomplished so far
You didn't fail you had a go and you finished even if you were last it is the taking part not we're you finish that counts and at least you know now what 5k feels like but good luck next time
Fantastic photo. Fantastic achievement and fantastic attitude! Win, win win!!! Well done Jmiss you'll get week 9 run 1 when you're ready. You finished a park run! Celebrate!
Well done! To do a park run before you finished the program is amazing, brilliant!
What a winner - so brave to do a Parkrun before graduation and you finished it!! π Whoo Hoo! It has been hard in this heat the last couple of weeks ....onwards to graduation - Great picture btw ππ
I find my quickest runs are at Parkrun, which means I must start off quicker than normal. It took me a few weeks to be able to deal with that and slow my pace a little.
Perhaps that's what you did and so ran out of energy too soon. Don't give up - Parkrun is a great thing - just try to maintain a slower steady pace.
You should be pleased with what you've achieved, well done βΊπ xx
