For a while now, after some runs, within 5/10 minutes of returning home, I've suffered with violent sneezing fits, painful face/nose nose and hay fever like symptoms. I put it down to running through some sort of pollen which must be 'having a go'.
However, it hasn't been after every run.
I had previously suffered with exactly the same symptoms after starting horse riding some years ago (I'd put that down to being allergic to horses but had noticed it was only when I rode, not by being in contact with them, which I'd always thought odd).
After much googling, (dangerous and not very scientific I know), I've come to conclusion it looks as if i may be experiencing Exercise Induced Rhinitis! Or in other words an allergic reaction brought on by strenuous activity!
Its literally a thing, who knew!
Anyone experience the same? Anyone else have any good tips for dealing with it?

I get the sneezing fits and mild hayfever symptoms, and dry eye syndrome while I'm at it, it's not brought on by excercise though, I find a nasal spray and eye drops from the doc helps..
I have seasonal allergies, and they are worse some days. There is more pollen in the air after it's rained, as the rain knocks the pollen off the plants, so see if you can connect any dots there... that may help you determine if it's pollen or exercise induced.
Does it last long? If it's short-lived may be something to live with, but if it goes on for a while you may want to try a non-drowsy anti-histamine if you don't have any reason not to?
I’ve recently started working out (3 months ago) and I never had an issue until I took up running. I noticed after I’d run that my nose would start to run too and I’d start sneezing like crazy and my sinuses would hurt. I go through a box of tissues every time this happens and by the next morning... I’m back to normal. (So it’s not a cold). I did the “dr Google” which is not good I know, but it came up with this same thing you mentioned. Then this morning I remember several years ago I had an anaphylactic reaction to Doritos BUT it was only when I participated in Agility classes with my border collie and was doing a lot of running. When i saw the allergist, he explained it’s not common but does happen! It’s rondo with how your body releases histamines and the chemical reactions. From what I remember it’s an autoimmune issue.... of which I have autoimmune illness already! I’ll be discussing with my internist and getting an appointment with my allergist ASAP! I love running. It’s helping my fibromyalgia and I want The annoyance of my nose to stop! If anyone has any suggestions To help relieve this, I’m all ears!!!
