So I managed to complete W2R1 this evening, first time I'm run in an evening which didn't seem too bad, things definitely get easier as the run goes on but I changed my route today just to mix things up a bit. The second half was on roads when so far I've run on country tracks and I definitely didn't enjoy the roads as much. Not sure if it normal to have a preference of surfaces but enjoying the running loads. Bring on the rest of the week!

It’s very normal to prefer a surface... generally it will be what you’re used to. My local running club is split into fell runners and road runners and they don’t cross over much. I don’t like hard surfaces, I used to run on track and grass... I love both, I occasionally had to use a treadmill, and I hate them. I try to avoid roads, and you’ll usually find me on the grass in a park if it’s got tarmac paths.

You got through another run though... well done.

Thanks, nice to know I'm normal in at least something! I'll give the roads another go at some point, I guess it may be different when I get some proper running shoes too.

Am about to do w2r3 this evening after work - I seem to find it a little better running at night - no idea why but it's cooler which definitely helps me - I changed my route the other day and hated it and gave up rather then forcing myself to endure it as I know I would probably have put myself off the whole thing!! Am battling with the mindset big time at the moment - good luck to you - am sure we will get there!!!
