Well I have finally got there and can’t believe I’m writing this. There’s been highs and a few lows along the way and definitely doubts that I would get to finish this programme .... but I have! Thanks to all my fellow runners πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ for keeping me going as don’t think I’d have managed otherwise. I don’t feel like a πŸ›‹ πŸ₯” anymore but a πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ. Good luck to everyone on their fitness journey

Congratulations Paula, its a great feeling isn't it, a real achievement and one you can be justifiably proud of, hope you keep it up and have many more runs to come

Thanks berksrover. It certainly is a great feeling. Yes will carry on 3 tines a week for 30 mins and aim for the 5k. Then it’ll be time to assess a new goal!

That's a great plan, I never achieved 5k in 30 mins before graduating, I consolidated with 3 x 5k /week, gradually reducing time, so you might want to stretch the 30 mins by a few mins on at least one of your runs, whatever you do, enjoy it!

PaulaGullett profile image

That’s a good idea! Think I’ll do that ... how long do you think it’ll take me to run 5k in 30 mins?

Berksrover profile image
BerksroverGraduate in reply to PaulaGullett

We are all different, how far are you running in 30 mins now?

PaulaGullett profile image
PaulaGullettGraduate in reply to Berksrover

Running part about 4K

Berksrover profile image
BerksroverGraduate in reply to PaulaGullett

I would try and stretch the distance out, bit by bit, I bet if you skiwed your pace a bit now you could get to 5k quickly, do that a few times then gradually increase your pace again, but don't forget there is no real significance to running 5k in 30 mins, for a really fit 18 year old guy, that might be very easy, for someone a lot older, like ne5, it represents quite a challenge, don't sacrifice enjoyment for arbitrary targets

Good advise! Won’t be an Olympian any time soon thanks

I think we have all missed the Olympics boat lol but if someone had told me 5 months ago that I would be running 10k I would have thought them mad, so don't underestimate your achievement

We'll done! 🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾🍾

I'll never run 5k in 30 mins! Taking about 45 mins at the moment! Happy with that!

Sounds good to me. I’m back on it today after a rest day, a CBA day and a funeral yesterday, didn’t fancy running after that, then I think a trip to a shoe shop is needed for some trail shoes, as I’m gonna be avoiding road for a while.
