Continuing to consolidate. Managed to get to 5k tonight; the temperature had dipped a little so thought I’d better take the opportunity to have a go. It took me 48mins but I got there. Slightly slowed by all the road crossings needed as I couldn’t face going round and round and round and round the park.
I have been just replaying the w9 runs in the app but I think I’d prefer a distance rather than time queue so I may have a play with the Strava app I downloaded- see if that works better.

It was ok thanks- my calves were a bit stiff for the first km or so (been sat at a desk all day and the first km is uphill) but other than that it was ok, breathing ok, head ok!! (No gremlins or monkey) but legs getting tired at the end as you’d expect 💪😂
I’ve gone for the opposite, keeping to 30 mins, but trying to push time. Well done on 5k! I was trying to push to 4K tonight, but Strava autopaused and so did I! Keep running! 🏃🏻♀️
That’s my next approach! I wanted to see that I could get to 5k so I have a benchmark- psychologically it’s a hurdle but my pace was actually very similar to shorter runs. Just need chip away at it now
I use Runkeeper, and have it set at both 5min and 0.5km intervals at the moment - so you get both time and distance prompts regularly. Well done on getting another run done. 🏃♀️🏃♂️❤️😊
At same point as you PG and tonight switched to Strava but didn’t switch settings so took off doing miles instead of Km! Figured when I got to 3miles that was equivalent so decided to cool down but was thrilled with 51 min time. Only when I converted to Km was disappointed to note it’s under 5K at 4.8 😩 could have gone on had I known cos I really wanted to crack the 5K distance for first time. Thanks for tip on Runkeeper - might give that a go on Wed
Congrats Critter! I’ve just started with Strava too. If you decide to stick with it then you activate the voice cues by first starting a run (you don’t have to save it) then go into settings and find the relevant bit. I did my first run in miles too!
I built my own 5K (which I've yet to complete) off-road route on Strava as post-graduate challenge. It's psychologically very handy and you could build whatever challenge suited you - just use the create a route (or something like that) function in My Routes - I would recommend visiting/walking areas you've never been to first, though. Good luck!
Well done for getting the 5k Crittermad! That’s brilliant!! I know what you mean about round and round the park. Gosh you know you’ve come a long way too when you think that’s a bit boring!! Fantastic! 😁😁❤️
