Eeek!! Last week I decided to start the Couch to 5K. I’ve never been a runner, hated it at School etc, so it doesn’t come naturally to me. However, I have to say I am enjoying it, even though I’ve huffed & puffed, sweated like a pig and had a face like a beetroot when I’d finished! (I guess that means I’m terribly unfit! Lol But at least I’m trying, right?)
I’m doing it at home on my lovely new treadmill, so no one has to suffer the sorry sight! (I’m kind like that! 😂)
I’ve just done W2R1 and was pleasantly surprised to find it a little easier and it seemed to fly by!
At the moment, I still can’t imagine being able to run for 30 continuous minutes at the end of the 9 weeks but I intend to do my best. I’ll be 59 in May,the day we go on holiday, and my goal is to be able run on the beach.
I’d be very grateful of any tips, advice.
Thank you 🤗

👋. Hello there. welcome to our humble abode, kicks stray trainers away from the door ☺️
You’ve come to,the right place! 😃👍 C25k is without doubt the best thing since sliced bread!
I was nearly 57 when I started, end of September/Oct so ran the programme through the winter. Not my smartest ever move 😁.
You only need to go very slow and steady. No need to push at all. You only need finish each session. You will progress as you go through the sessions. If you take your time you will chew them up! Going slowly will buy you the time to collect your puff to see you safely through 😃👍
Have fun! It’s a blast. You will will be amazed at what you can achieve!
Take time to read the inspirational posts and what your fellow C25kers have achieved on the back of this fab programme 🙂
You’re welcome 🙂. Folks on here are really nice, supportive helpful, good listeners and have gone through it and come out the other side and are still smiling and wanting to help others
Running has such fantastic benefits so we want folks to get through and to keep running for good
I’m hoping I might be able to talk my daughter into giving C25K a go too. She has never liked running either but if she sees her Mum can do it then she might be inspired....might! Lol
My niece now runs with the programme, spurred on by moi, she might well have finished it She’s asked me to do the race for life with her this year 🙂. If your daughter doesn’t want to, don’t you be out off, you can do this programme just fine on your own
You're not alone in being surprised to actually enjoy this running thing, most of us are eating humble pie 😁
Don't worry about what's to come just take each run at a time. The programme is fantastic and you're going to surprise and impress yourself with what you're capable of.
Enjoy your journey.👍
Someone more senior will be along shortly with some very useful links. There's info here for almost any question that you may have. 😁
Now I need to convince my aching dinosaur bones that they are really Spring chicken! 😂 It’s my hips that ache the most but I just give them a slap and tell them to get on with it! Lol.
Read the faqs and just keep going. Slow and steady gets you there.... oh and please don’t compare your progress to other folks. Your journey is yours alone!
Welcome and well done!! I’ve always said ‘I’m built for comfort not speed’. But no more! While slow and steady definitely win this race I am up and out and can’t believe I’m 3 weeks in!!!! I hit a certain birthday in June and I was motivated by that - but while we are all different I think we all want to make a positive change. This group is really helping me so I hope it does you!
Thank you ever so much for your lovely comment and words of encouragement.
Haha! I’ve said that too!...built for comfort not speed! Funny how something like a special birthday can make us want to change our ways eh? I’ll be 60 next year so that’s my long term goal...to be fitter, feel my healthiest ever and be able to run!
I hope you get to where you want to be for your birthday! Good luck and thanks again for commenting. 🤗
I'm on w9 and still can't believe I'm going to be able to run for 30 minutes each time I go out 😂 Trust in the programme, even when it is clearly bonkers 👍🏼 And good luck!
