I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about running without Jo!
I wasn’t even sure I’d be running with Strava man after him not talking to me last week, however with a bit of reassurance he’s back and I used him to let me know where I was at!
Wasn’t sure how to gauge 30 mins tho so decided I would aim for 5K instead.
About ten mins in “insane in the brain” came on my playlist (in my defence I am a 90’s teen) and I did wonder if I in fact am a bit insane ... getting up at 6 to beat the heat and run!
I decided not to worry about time .... it would be what it would be.
Slow and steady and just enjoy it .... and enjoy it I did. Got my second sub 7 min splits and did 5K in just over 34 mins and was very happy with that

He’s the guy that keeps whispering distances and times in my ear ..... open Strava, press record then settings (top left) audio cues and you can set it to announce 1/2 or full KM. thank you 😊
Reaching 5k was a big mental barrier for me and took me a few weeks to build up to. Doing three of them pushes you just over the 10% rule, so be careful or perhaps do one slightly shorter run?
I will def do a shorter one and go back to doing 30mins. At least for one run .... if not two! I’m planning on doing 9 PG runs before looking at the bridge to 10K. 🙈
That's brilliant! Do you guys that run with earphones use both ears? When I ran before my hip replacement in 2012 I never ran with any music etc... Partly because I was always mindful of not hearing anybody or thing coming up behind me, and because events I took part in didn't allow them a anyway. It's been a learning curve using the app, and I only use it in my left ear. One to leave some rearwards aural warning, but also cos my right ear is partially deaf anyway.
And I'm guessing that PG is post grad? Is after completion of C25K? Huge congrats! 😀
