New Running Shoes :-)

Given that I have been suffering from tight calves and achilles tendons and that my current shoes are 9 years old... I persuaded myself that I should purchase a new pair of running shoes. When I bought the current shoes 9 years ago I was diagnosed with over-pronation and given a stability shoe, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 10's. So with this in mind and the chance to have my running gait analysed again, off I went this morning to the local sports shop. Low and behold he confirmed that I am an over-pronator and the old shoes could be contributing to the calf tightness (well he would, wouldn't he!). So I have gone and purchased the new version of the same shoe, Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18, they are very blue aren't they...

To his credit he also advised various stretching exercises and using a foam roller to try to lengthen and ease the tightness.

So I hope to test them out tomorrow morning and see if there is any difference to the feeling in my calves post run!

How could such a nice pair of shoes not help!! Just don’t be dazzled by the lovely colour. “Keep looking 10 paces in front” not at the new shoes!!!

Take your pick:

But it also does depend on whether you over-pronate, as they are a stability running shoe.

Hi there - I get exactly the same - tight calves and achilles after a run. It lasts for a day and with some anti-inflammatory get and good deep massage they clear up. Off to have my hooves re-shoed tomorrow so hopefully that will help. Cracking pair - BTW :)

Wow 9 years old! Bet these are going to feel great. My Brooks stability runners are fabulous.

Happy feet! 👍😁

Yeah 9 years, they have survived that time as I haven't done a great deal of running since 2011, as until I found this programme I always did too much too soon and injured myself...

Sassy shoes...and make sure if you roll.. you follow guidelines on the correct way to roll, we can cause more damage if we do it incorrectly :) Same with massage sticks. ( You tube)

I don’t suppose you have any links to you tube videos on how to use a massage stick properly do you Oldfloss? There’s so many on there I don’t know who to trust.

Nice tyres. Exactly the same colours as my Asics. Is blue, white and orange some obligatory post-Brexit colour scheme?

Nope that might be.... black :) x
