New Shoes!

Finally worked up to going into a proper sports shop and getting some proper running shoes today (Brooks Adrenaline GTS 18). Felt very comfortable and I’m excited to take them out for a proper test tomorrow morning!

Slightly nervous that they were slightly looser than I’m used to on the heel but the guy selling said a tighter lace would sort it out? Might try some indoor running around before muddying them up just in case.

Get them on and wear them in a bit.. are you happy about the looser heel?

The tighter lace bit sounds odd...but I am no expert???

They certainly look sassy..did you check out IannodaTruffe 's post on gait analysis?

healthunlocked.com/couchto5....

Be sure that you are completely happy in them.. ( Yes I know... I worry like a Mother Hen! )

Thank you Oldfloss! I think I was over-anxious as I’ve tried on my current trainers at home and they move a little in the heel too. 😊

I did read the post - and we did try them on the treadmill in the shop but it certainly wasn’t a comprehensive analysis - more just confirming that these worked. On a different day I would have pushed for more info but today was rough for other reasons and I wasn’t up to it. They are super comfy and I’m looking forward to trying them out. 👍🏻

Brilliant! I worry too much😊

There’s also a world of advice on tying shoelaces - seriously! But take a look at this and see if this is what the assistant was suggesting...

Otherwise I’m with Oldfloss on it, it sounds a bit odd. But if you Dr Google sensibly and look at sites like Runners World and Running Bug etc, that should give you some reassurance on whether the fit is right for you. But the shoes are a big expense and the foundation of your running, so I too am clucking like a hen right now....:)

Thank you Jancanrun! As above I think I was over anxious (due to the expense!) 😊

I have GTS17s and they are great, but cut quite low on the heel. I always make sure my foot is pushed very firmly back into the heel of the shoe before lacing.

This guide to different ways of lacing your shoes may be helpful runrepeat.com/top-10-runnin... to get the tightness where you need it most.

I love this link and will be retying my laces tonight ready for a run tomorrow. Thanks.

Thanks Iannoda, I think it’s just the different shape I’m not used to. Will check out the link 👍🏻

Great shoes. Congrats. I too had to be taught to tie my laces... kind of embarassing at my age. I'm surprised they didn't show you. Pop back if you can. You need to create a loop at the top with the topmost eyelet and then cross thread through these which pulls the shoe tighter around your heel. I couldn't believe the difference it makes myself.👍😊

I got the same pair last Friday! Very comfortable indeed! X

Tried them out this morning, still a little loose feeling but it’s just me being paranoid! Felt much better than running in my old trainers - much more supported and bouncy 👍🏻 How are you finding them? X

I haven’t run in them yet. But they feel good when I’m walking around x
