As I’m now increasing my mileage thought I’d pop to local running shop and get my gait done. Apparantly I’m a neutral runner so my current NB shoes are fine but......wanted new shoes!! (Plus my beach Nikes have been hurting my ankle a teeny bit of late)
Treated myself to some Brooks Ghost 11 shoes. 😬😬. Come on I deserve them right??? 🤔☺️❤️

What’s the difference between the different Brooks models? So many names but I have no clue. (Mine are clearly the fat boy shock absorbing comfiest ones, Glycerin.)
No idea!! All I know is these are the latest. But I tried on about 4 different pairs/brands and ran down the street in them. These were the comfiest by far.
I’m a bit wary of Sports Direct which is our only local one. Had such poor service from them for returns, they have no changing room, surly staff... that I’m inclined to wait till I go to Exeter or Taunton where there is more choice.
I suffer from fallen arches, bunions and my feet sort of roll as I run and walk so I put my outer heel down and then roll onto my inner toe. So I have been doing a lot of research into the correct shoes. ( currently running in either ASICS GT 1000 or ASICS Gel cumulus- both of which I find are fine for me ). But I came across this article which I found quite interesting
I wouldn't go to sports direct for running shoes as they don't have specialist staff. They are fine for leisure wear but wouldn't know what gait analysis is. If you go onto the brooks website and search for a local supplier, you will probably find a local independent running shop, which will do several brands and do assessments.
Absolutely you deserve them! And they are gorgeous! You will zip along in them, I am sure. And thank you for making me feel better about my recent shoe purchase - we deserve them, the efforts we are putting in! x
Runners love buying new shoes, talking about new shoes, dreaming about new shoes, thinking nostalgically about shoes past...😁 And don’t think I did not spot your racer’s loop. Good work missy. x
Fantastic!! I had this done a few weeks back (shop in Ashley Cross). I was very impressed with the knowledgeable staff who were superb and my new shoes have been perfect 👌 Well done 👍 and here’s to some happy 😃 new miles (or should that be Km 🤔!!) 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️😀🤸♀️
Thanks! Maybe my new shoes will give me your pace. 😏 This shop is in Moordown/Winton. Apparently I can go 500 miles in these shoes - yep can use them for a lifetime then!! 😂
I think it’s quite spooky how you and I are so aligned atm😄... I was talking to my sister just last night and she was bending my ear about getting my GA done before our 10k, so I said I’d go in and get some new shoes next week.
Given the obvious issues with even relatively simple things like lacing your trainers, I'd suggest you keep these for Sunday Best/Admiration purposes and get another for actual use. Actually two pairs since you should alternate them. Or four so you have spares...
Wonga would be delighted to help you with any cash flow problems 😂😂😂❤❤
You soooooo deserve these Rip! Aren't they fab. You'll be nailing the miles now. Looking for an excuse to get me some new trainers - mine have minor tread wear so might need GA to see if my analysis reveals I NEED a new pair.
Love the idea of sand trainers, I just avoid sand to save my beloveds. Great idea to keep am old spare pair. Perhaps a wee drawstring bag to throw them in the boot. Can you tell I hate sand yet...! 😆
Another top tip, one I learned from a piper - when you start tying them, when you've done your over and under, thread your pace around the bottom one once more and instead of the knot popping straight back up, it stays in place holding it well while you do your loop. (Hope this makes sense!)
Small pleasures...
Can't wait to see your stats in your new shoes!!! 👟👟👟👟👟👟
Hi Rip! Nice shoes! On Tues I treated myself to some Brooks too also after having a gait analysis done. I must say it’s good to be able to go to a specialised shop to get the correct info for your needs.
Lovely new shoes 😍. My local running shop is Up and Running too. I would recommend them as they were great when helping me pick my trainers for dodgy feet. They also have a running club for when I’m a grown up.
That runners loop though - who knew!?! Think I’ll give it a go tomorrow 😁🏃♀️
Hi Ripcurlrana71 well I must say those are top trainers. I love them, the ghost 10 are cool too, but the 11's look the bees knees. Glad you got them, enjoy running in them 👍😊 x
