I’ve really struggled this week. Wanted to give up so many times! No idea how I’m going to manage 25 mins tomorrow. When does this become enjoyable?
Wk 6 run 3 tomorrow!!! Dreading it 😩 - Couch to 5K
Wk 6 run 3 tomorrow!!! Dreading it 😩
Go slowly. Keep breathing. One foot in front of the other. Beating this run is a step towards it feeling good. You will get an amazing sense of satisfaction. Good luck!
Choose some lively music and if possible go when the weather is good. A sunny afternoon/evening always makes me think ‘lovely time for a run’, even if I’m feeling tired. I’m sure you’ll feel amazing when you’ve done it. Good luck!
I’m nervous about this run too at the weekend although I was nervous about 20 minutes last week and managed that ... slowly!! You can do it!!! Good luck x
What Jay said - go as slow as you possibly can, barely faster than walking, and just take it steady. In fact I would pretend I was walking, and when my brain shouted at me to stop, I'd just shout back 'what's your problem? I'm just walking, and I can walk for 25 mins, so what are you fussing about?!' Well, Ok the shouting was in my head, except for the time when I ran too fast and had to actually shout at myself for the last 5 minutes to keep going. Believe you can do it and you will do it. We are here cheering you on
Hey carrie I'm doing same run tomorrow and bricking it. I found by starting really slowly it helps body to warm into it but yeah it could go pete tong as far as i know. Just go for it and if you have to stop - Michael Johnson will never know!!! I mean, he's one of my close chums but I won't tell. Good luck!!!
Doing it Sat so with you all the way!!!!! We can do this. 🏃♀️🏃♀️
That’s 4 of us on this forum doing this run tomorrow, let’s all celebrate tomorrow when it’s done 😀
You’ve tackled W5R3 so you’ll do W6R3. I had same fears myself but just slow down and you’ll do it!
I did it yesterday and agree with everything others have said. The first 5 minutes of the run were good because I started slowly, but the next 5 minutes were hard going because there seemed a long time left. But I thought ‘I did 20 minutes last week, so what’s the problem’ and once Sarah M told me I was half way through, I’d found my pace, completed it and actually felt good at the end. I would also say go when it’s not too warm in this weather. Good luck!
Hope it went well! I have just done Wk7 run 1 this am which is the same run. Must have done Wk6 r2 4 times to build up to it but was worth it in the end. Last 8 mins really hard but feel great now, hope you do too.
I thought exactly the same but I found the key is looking back when I started I thought after week one how on earth will I cope with the step up in time thinking the next step is a challenge but you can do it what was a challenge you have already achieved I’m just starting week 8 never thought I’d be able to run 25 mins and I know I can run the extra 3 the satisfaction is the reward. One foot infront of the other at your pace you will get there and look back 😀
For me this was the run that it becameEnjoyable!!!! Just take it as slow as you need to to feel comfortable. The runs I've dreaded the most I've just told myself to give it a go and see what happens (I can always repeat if necessary) but I've managed to do them and you can too!! Put a really good playlist together that you know you will enjoy. Remember this program does work you just have to believe in yourself xx good luck and let us know how it goes xx
For me it was the 20min one I dreaded. But it was achievable after the previous runs. I think ensuring you have a route that doesn't have ridiculous climbs is worth thinking about. I learned that the hard way, thought I was going to die when I found myself in one mid run. I made it, but it was a fine line. Choose a route that is fairly flat and long enough to give you the 25 mins and then just take it nice and steady one step at a time. You'll feel great when it's done and everything after that will seem attainable
I'm doing this run too on Sunday - team effort! Great advice here for all of us. I also just pretend that I'm walking, honest. Also love a Spotify running playlist - the surprise element - not knowing what music's coming next - and great tunes helps time whizz by.
Thanks everyone I’m feeling much more positive about it now after reading all this!
I've completed week 8 and found it really hard going. Yesterday instead of starting week 9 I went out and ran for 20 minutes and upped my pace. I think i am going to do this a bit more before I go on to week 9 but will still go out every other day. I've heard a lot of people say listening to a podcast or a story is better than music so might give that a go too. I felt that as I'd struggled to do 28 mins I didn't want to give up so thought I'd try and improve the times distance and speeds I've done so far and I felt good yesterday as my time per km I ran was the best so far.
Don't forget this isn't a given that you have to complete it in 9 weeks we are all different and for some it takes longer. And just think what you were doing 6 weeks ago and how car you've come. Well done !!!!
I've got this run on Sunday. Slightly hesitant but kinda of feel ok. Never thought I'd manage 20 minutes but did and grinned like a Cheshire cat for days. We can do this (I hope) x. Good luck
You can do it. I did it this morning and feel great for it. 👍
Ok this run is happening tonight, just got to wait for the temperature to drop a bit!!! 😬
😱😱😱 think I actually enjoyed that!!!
