Today I did my final wk 6 run at parkrun. (First 1)Wasn't sure if I could do either if I'm honest as legs were stiff yesterday after run 2. I've never felt so horrified as I did on that start line with all those incredibly fit looking people๐
Set off and about 500 yards in it went uphill - only a small incline but first time I've ever run not on the flat. There are zero hills in the town where I live - which has been a blessing on C25K lol
But I did it - got my scheduled run out done - it was hot I was sweating in places I didn't know you could. Then walked and a bit more jogging in parts on the way back.
It wasn't fast and it certainly wasn't pretty but I made it all the way round in just under 50 minutes. The time isn't really important but it was quicker than I expected as a confirmed snail runner๐
Words cannot describe how good it felt getting cheered over that finish line - made me quite emotional and had a little cry in car on way home - happy tears๐
Thanks to all you lovely people who have spurred me on these past 6 weeks.
xx

Brilliant Bandit, well done!! Thinking I may join the park run community in a week or 2 as well. How did you find w6r1? I just ran it and found it tough!
I found going back to stop and walk weird after the 20 min run in wk 5 but we're getting to the business end of the plan now. When i look back at how wretched i felt in wk 1 doing just 60 sec runs im quite amazed im still going lol
Well done to you - wk 6 run1 is a somewhat bogey run from what I've read on here. Keep going x
Brilliant well done for having the bravery to tackle it and stick to your own pace. You did really well when you consider the nervous energy you expended before you even started๐๐
That sounds lovely. I've got a bit emotional reading about you being a bit emotional because I can just imagine I'd be the same! haha! Fantastic! Happy running!
Brilliant - there were a group of people doing one of their C25K runs at our parkrun this morning, 1 phone between 3 of them with Laura on maximum volume, it was hilarious ๐ Well done and keep going!
Thanks for all the lovely words - I'm aching like mad but it was so worth it๐
I know I'm not the only oldie carrying far to much weight on the forum but am really starting to think I can do this running thing. Having a well deserved couple of days off - wk 7 starts on Tuesday !!
Absolutely brilliant. Congratulations! A 15min 5k is the same as a 49min 5k...SO YOU DID IT! park runs are great to keep people going. I hope you go again. I went to my 2nd yesterday, and got a PB..how? I think it's the fact that you're with others, they spur you on.
Well done and here's to your next one ๐๐๐
Am thinking about giving it another go - at least now I have an idea of the course and where the up n down bits are lol
I loved the fact that all the speedy people were genuinely shouting well done and keep going as I was plodding along - for a self conscious person it was nice to feel part of it and not an outsider. My running friend was only 3 mins ahead of me and I thought I'd be proper trailing in her dust ๐
I just hope it's a bit cooler next time - I always run super early to be home before it kicks in so that made it harder than it probably should have been
Even the fastest had to start somewhere.. and who's to say they didn't take 55mins on their first the comoradarie is great. As you say, next time your more prepared and now you have motivation... To beat your previous time. There's no feeling better than looking at the results page and seeing "personal best" on your line.,. Good luck, let us know how you do
