I lay in bed procrastinating this morning. I knew I was supposed to be running, but it was one of those “meh” days and I was feeling like I just couldn’t be bothered. Mr Raz delivered me a cuppa with a cheery, “Aren’t you running this morning?” I pretended to be asleep, but he was on to me, “If you’re asleep I’ll take the tea away.”
I grunted something indecipherable and the tea was left on my bedside while he went to do something really important (probably checking Twitter).
After a few minutes he came back. I was about to settle down for a top up snooze, “Didn’t you have a new playlist you wanted to run too?” he reminded me.
And that was the jolt I needed to get me out of bed and ready to run.
The new playlist was created yesterday and I was looking forward to listening to a mixture of tracks all inspired by Shrek! I’d heard a Monkees number on my 60s playlist the other day and was reminded of the song I’m a Believer... this reminded me of Shrek... which reminded me of a number of different songs I’d enjoyed in the movies... and so the new playlist was born.
My kit was on without faffing and I was out the door. The morning weather was neither one thing or the other, but my new tunes were putting a spring in my step.
As I broke into my run Best Years of Our Lives came on and a grin spread across my face. It’s really upbeat and I was singing along as I ran, much to the amusement of the dog walkers in the park.
There were so many good tracks and quite a few of them jumping up and down in my mind asking to have their lyrics rewritten. Half way round I was puffing up one of my hills. It was a bit of a struggle but helpfully the Proclaimers started crooning, “I’m on my way from misery to happiness.” I could see the top of the incline was not that far, and yes I was on my way from the misery of the hill to the happiness of running on the flat and into the woodland.
My legs were feeling fatigued, but Right Said Fred decided to join me and a new version of their song emerged - only because I was definitely not looking too sexy for my shirt or any other item of clothing I was wearing.
I’m too tired for my run,
Too tired for my run
So tired legs burn.
And I’m too tired for this song
Too tired to run on
My energy’s gone.
🙁
I’m a runner, I’m not feeling keen,
And I do my little run on the footpath,
Yeah on the footpath, on the footpath yeah,
I drag my little feet along the footpath.
👟 👟
I’m too tired want my car,
A massage in a spa
I’m running too far.
And I’m too sweaty for my hat,
Hair’s messy in my hat,
At least the path’s flat.
🧢
‘Cos I’m a runner, the woodland’s so green
Now I’m running along to the small park.
Got my breath back, in the small park yeah,
Got my energy back in the small park.
🏃🏽♀️
The rest of my run was great. And I loved my play list which I thought I’d share as there were some good tunes which could help if you’ve lost your mojo.
