Well that was a mission in itself and i was beginning to think the universe didn’t want me to buy a garmin
Anyway after driving a bit and getting lost a bit and ending up at the service entrance of the back of Argos and tracking round to the front then still having to ask someone who said it’s through that door there we picked up the one i reserved yesterday and brought it home
I have a Garmin Vivoactive 4s and after a couple of hours it’s all set up with music from Amazon and i’ve downloaded a playlist it’s charging now as i’ve run the battery down
I’m still unsure how to set it up for a run and does it give me a map? or do i need Strava as well?
I will figure it out but the booklet that came with me is so small that i maybe needed to spend the money on new glasses instead lol
Happy running everyone

WooHoo well done. I think you'll like your new Garmin
It should be fine for you running 'out of the box' you just need to find the button to select the activity, select Run, and then when you're ready to go press start. It will then look after you all the way round telling you your pace, average pace and elapsed time. There are lots more you can do with it but I'll not spoil the fun of Googling
You do however need to connect your 'Garmin Connect' account to Strava. Then you don't need your phone at all. When you've finished your run and clicked on Save, it will automatically end up in Strava.
Thanks Buddy, I’m having fun so far just with music and looking at my stats but i haven’t been for a run yet, ive had a sore calf muscle and i think it’s healed now, i have 2 more days at work and then a week off so lots of running and lots of learning to do
Wayhay! Go you with your fancy new Garmin! I have the Vivoactive 3 and don’t think I’ve really got to grips with all it can do yet but I do like it! There is a user manual on the Garmin site which can be downloaded or printed off which gives more information than the guide that came with it - I expect there is something similar for your model too. Happy running!
I’m hoping no one at work will notice mine so went for the smaller one, I love the watch face but not so easy to see the time i will make changes over the coming weeks and find out what suits
Yes i will do, so far i love it, ive been medium stressed today with a resting heart rate of 72 which compares to fitbit heart rate, mine goes up and down with psoriasis flares
I’ve downloaded a playlist plus an album i bought from amazon years ago but not been for a run
There are some useful videos on YouTube to help setting it up for a run. I got a Garmin Vivoactive 3 on Black Friday. Through Google I got the link to a video on YouTube showing how to set it up for running eg my pace, laps etc. Really helpful and easy to follow x
