Razzy B. Goode (again)

I usually post in the Bridge to 10k forum. Recently I've noticed a few posts about C25K new graduates finding some runs tough especially when the time seems to tick by slowly or they they've lost motivation. There have then be mentions of different ways to keep yourself going including making up new lyrics to one of the songs on your playlist - something I've been doing off and on since graduating C25K and moving from Laura to real music.

Yesterday was potentially one of the grim run days when the gremlins were hoping to put me off, and the humid weather wasn't helping. So although I've posted this in Bridge to 10k I thought I would share it here too.

Yesterday morning was a hot sticky one and I had a longer run planned. Fortunately I had my 1960s playlist on, and when Johnny B. Goode came on I was off…

(Apologies to Chuck Berry)

Up in sunny Luton, Capability Green,

Highway maintenance were being oh so mean.

They closed off my planned footpath put me in a bad mood

I felt like going home, it wasn’t going good.

The sun was getting hotter, it wasn’t going well,

My running felt quite sluggish I was no gazelle.

☀️☀️☀️

Don’t slow!

Go Razzy go go

Go Razzy go go

Go Razzy go go

Go Razzy go go

Razzy B. Goode.

🏃🏽‍♀️

I’m running down a steep road, it’s an out and back.

And then along the path beside the railway track.

The trees are bending over, there’s some welcome shade.

I settle in a rhythm as my music played.

This song came on my playlist, in my head it stayed,

It helped me with my gremlins on my run today.

🎶

You know

Gremlins can go go

Go Razzy go go

Go Razzy go go

Razzy run good.

🏃🏽‍♀️

I’ve set myself a target, and I hope I can

Keep going to the midway, oh well that’s the plan.

I get to 8 km and then turn round

A young man speeds right passed me, like a swift greyhound.

Maybe someday I will run with feet so light,

But for now I’ll just make sure I’m home all right.

🏃‍♂️

Stay slow

Go Razzy go go

Razzy be good.

🏃🏽‍♀️

And now I’m at the bottom of that big steep road!

The thought of running up it is a big NO NO!

I’ll run a little further till I reach my goal,

Then after 15k right up the hill I’ll stroll.

😰😅😅

Go go

Go Razzy go go

With legs full of woe

Go Razzy go

Go get you home

Razzy you’re good.

😂😂😂...this is so good Razouski ....I am going to give this a go when I’m out & about....usually it’s the number plate game for me, making up feel good words to the letters on car reg plates but I am def trying this one....I think Chuck Berry would approve too...he might have even given you a job!!!

Thanks Mummycav. It’s a while since I’ve made up new lyrics to a track on my playlist while I run, but this one kept me going for ages. 😀

Wow!! Up a hill at the end of a long run! Respect:-)) And I’ll try the lyrics thing. Because I run in town I find feeling smug as I run past smokers ( being an ex heavy smoker myself) motivates me and keeps me going, and the concentration required to dodge non-indicating van drivers keeps me focussed too....

Dodging non-indicating vans sounds like a dangerous sport to me. 😉

Take care and happy running. 🏃🏽‍♀️
