Asking for a friend ;-)

So if you managed 10K but didn't necessarily run it all would you consider yourself a graduate of the 10k?? Ahem - does my "friend" have to run it continuously to get the badge?? Be as harsh as you like. Thanks

Provided you umm they cross the start and finish line and travel the whole course without any transportation assistance, I’d say that counts.

personally i would feel like a cheat if i collected the badge knowing i had not ran the full 10k - because i want to run it not walk/run it.

so i'd be inclined to give it anther bash and then get it - but just my opinion :-)

I think it is between your friend and her conscience. :) Personally I would feel that I hadn't earned it if I didn't run the whole thing, but I don't suppose it matters.

I woul say that if you were 'upright and smiling' as you crossed the 10k line that it definitely counts. If you were carried across by 2 paramedics then no it would not count 🤕😀

Lots of people do a run walk run walk method, nothing wrong with that. Lots of people running marathons have run walk method.

Tell your 'friend' good on ya, well done, keep at it and maybe she can have fewer walk breaks in future runs.

I was delighted to hear your reply and thought you were definitely right, until I read the one below from Oldfloss and Ionnada and realised what I really wanted was the "talk of Mum and Dad" where they ask you if "you would really be happy doing that" and you realise it would eat away at you......... But I appreciate all the encouragement and if anyone else asked me Id probably encourage them to do it any way they could. Grrrr Im going to be taking the moral high ground - for my "friend" obviously ;-)

Run it...other than split second stops for runaway trains or road crossing safety...we are all different...but if the point of moving on is to continue building up distance..then for me, the run has to be run. Otherwise you are not ready to move on😊

Let your ' friend' use this as a dress rehearsal? Then slow and steady do the show 😉

You are only a graduate of a process if you partake of it.

I feel like the child getting the talk from my Dad - which is good as it was exactly how I was acting! Thank you for bringing me back. I appreciate the Yoda like wisdom. :-)

Me too. This isn't a "system" that I could ever consider "gaming". It's not a game. It's about being me in all its messy glory. If I can't do it properly then I'll work until I can. Every step ahead is a success. Every run rebuilds.

You're right of course - and if I did it any other way I wouldn't value it ....... I think i/my friend just had a slightly odd 5 minutes. :-)
