Hello, new to this. Started C25k three days ago and just down my first homework run. I really struggled the first time, I am seriously overweight and I was so out of breath. I jogged slower today and found it a lot easier. I’m slow but I’m doing it

Hi Bunni

First things first - WELL DONE for giving C25K go.

Secondly, I think I speak for everyone when I say, we've ALL been there. Those first few runs are when it really dawns on you that you are perhaps not as fit as you thought you were or perhaps could be.

Third, it WILL get easier. Your fitness, your stamina, your energy levels will all improve over the coming weeks.

And finally, remember it does take time. This is not an over night thing. There may be set backs along the ways, certain runs or even certain weeks may seem like a real slog (you may even want to repeat runs or weeks), but don't give up. Keep posting on the forum and take heart from other peoples experiences - and there is a huge range of experiences on here - good and bad.

Welcome, Bunni! Slow is good and being tired is natural. Let the program take you forward, through the highs and lows and give yourself credit for what you are doing. You're running: its brilliant!

Personally, it helps me that I try to find one positive thing associated with each run, even the ones that felt difficult. Today I struggled quite a bit (I wanted to rant and rave at the podcast voice to stop being so cheery when I was hobbling forward) but at the same time I told myself to stick with it because I am getting stronger, even though I may not be the elegant gazelle that I wish I was :)

Just take it one run at a time and turn to this forum for help, support and advice. People here are incredibly generous and kind and have made a huge difference to my journey at least!

Best of luck, Bunni. You can do this! Xx

Well done. Do not worry about the speed, pace yourself, you can always speed up later.
