Hey there I’m new to this page and thank you for accepting me. I started the C5K 2 weeks ago and completed run 3 of wk2 yesterday and enjoyed it- a thing I never thought I’d say. I’m looking forward to wk3 first run tomorrow but I’m a little apprehensive/excited about running for longer than ever before. My chest gets really tight so if anyone has exercise induced asthma - id love to hear from you on how you keep the wheezy chest at bay 🙏

Welcome to the forum and well done on your progress.
This guide to the plan is essential reading healthunlocked.com/couchto5...
and includes advice on minimising impact, stretching after every run, hydration and strengthening exercises, all of which will help.
Can you speak aloud, clear, ungasping sentences as you run?.........if not, you are going too fast.
Enjoy your journey.
Hello & welcome! 😄 You’re doing brilliantly.
I don’t have asthma, but going slow enough is the key thing for us all.
Do you have an inhaler? I have seen posts from people with asthma who say they take their inhaler before they run.
Good luck! If you keep posting, we will cheer you on. 😄
Hi I have the same - asthma due to allergies/exercise. I take my inhaler about 15 mins before heading out. Not sure how much difference it makes (as sometimes I forget to take it!) but it makes me feel better anyway.
Hi, I’ve got asthma too, and though well controlled I tend to have a persistent cough, although I’m well. I’ve just finished week 7, and have noticed a great improvement in my cough since starting. I used to always cough if I ran at all, eg for the train, but now don’t cough with any of the runs and I’m up to 25minutes now
