Hi I’m a 34 year old mum. Absolutely no experience in exercise what so ever. Put some weight on which I want to loose plus want to be fitter do starting ct5k. Did my first run this morning. It nearly killed me 🙈 hopefully it will get easier

Welcome! And well done on getting out there. Believe the programme is going to work. Take it really slowly (I started this programme too fast but you really need to go slower than a slow thing) And be prepared for a mental battle alongside the physical one! You can do this. Good luck.

Welcome! Good to hear you're on the programme. W1 is so hard as you've not done regular exercise for so long. Secondly, I think all of us on here have gone out too fast. Each run and each week as the runs get longer your pace will get slower. If you do yourself a massive favour, you'll slow right down from the get-go and hopefully manage better than the rest of us who have pretty much learned the hard way by week 4 or so!

It's a friendly, helpful forum and everyone is keen to offer support and good advice in equal measure, so make good use of everyone's experience. Whatever you hit, you can be sure that someone around here has also been there and may have some guidance for you, or a straight-forward "me too"! Which is sometimes all we're looking for.

Good luck with your journey. 🏃‍♀️💨

It's good to keep pace with someone who is starting out at the same time, you will be going through similar experiences and can support each other and share your successes Dee_N and Hidden the new dream team!

Not sure it gets easier, but as you get fitter you can manage more! The hardest bit is starting and you've already done that. You can definitely do it - if I can do it anybody can!

We all felt like that week 1 but we were all a bit naive and thought ourselves sprinters straight away! This forum is invaluable and you’ll find Oldfloss’s words echoing through many posts ‘slow and stready’.

It really is the key to keep away from any injuries and for you to feel happy to finish the programme. It really works - with many success stories. Everyone is lovely on this forum and very supportive.

Good luck with your next run. 😊

The good news is you’ve done the hardest run already. The one that gets you off the couch and moving. WELL DONE. It does get easier and the plan works. In 6 weeks you will have run for 25 mins without stopping. Sounds ridiculous doesn’t it? But it’s not. Trust the plan and trust Laura.

Welcome. You should find doing the same run two more times make it get easier.

Do everything nice and slowly - the aim has to be to run for all of each running phase, however slowly. As you move through the programme you’ll find mental gremlins kick in and try to stop you. Having a habit of doing all of the run early on will really help.

Lean on us and we will all help.

Welcome, you are almost there! You have done 3 of the hardest things already, downloaded C25K, done your first run and posted for the first time, it really is a measure of the people on here that so many graduates welcome those just starting out, we have all had our giid days and bad days, but the programme is structured so well that you will always face a new challenge but be better placed to face it, enjoy your journey!

Good luck! I’m 34 and Mum of a 9 month old and a 4 year old...I am on week 8 and am amazed at how well I have done having not run properly before. It’s a great way to make a little time for yourself and when I run, I think of my little ones and how, by improving my fitness, I’ll be able to keep up with them! It’s already made me feel more energised. I wish you lots of luck! Go for it and enjoy!

Ps it does get easier as you get used to it xx
