Absolutely loved this one this morning :) :) :)

I'd got myself some new trail shoes in prep for soon moving off the treadmill into the great outdoors, and (after a cheeky 5-minute warm up run with them on Saturday) this was the first time I've used them in earnest. As they are distinctly chunkier/heavier than my trusty Nike's, I set the treadmill on level instead of the usual incline, to make my first outing with them a little easier.

And...

...breezed through it, really felt I could have carried on running for a long time. In the second ten-minute run I kept increasing the treadmill pace until, for the last couple of minutes I was running 30% faster than my usual plod! For the first time it felt like I was running at a decent sort of pace, rather than just surviving until Jo Whiley said I could stop.

And my heart rate was elevated but OK at the end, but afterwards came down faster than I have ever seen it do - which is a really good sign :)

Absolutely buzzing, and feel ready for the 25 minutes on Wednesday. Plan to do that on the treadmill and, all things being equal, will finally venture out into the big wide world on Friday for w7r1.

Loving this programme!

Well done!

Go you! Love the idea of a treat for the big outing. It doesn't have to be much, an ice-cream after or a new playlist, something for ourselves for the hard work we're putting in. I had planned a beef curry to celebrate when (not if, not any longer) I finish the course. Now I'm thinking new runners, how times have changed!

Yes indeed, treats are “a good thing” ;)

My treat for completing the programme will hopefully be the final run itself. If all goes to schedule, I should be running w9r3 surrounded by the glorious countryside and mountains of Skye - I made it the background pic on my profile on here, as a reminder and to keep me motivated :)

That's a couple of people said they are completing with a special event, a 5K or like you, somewhere picturesque. Wish I'd thought of it. Might still have time to plan. 🏃‍♀️🏞🏕🏖

Thought it was forum law that all new trainers must be photographed and shared🤔

They'll be muddy Friday 🏃‍♂️

Hey - well done you. You have inspired & given me confidence for W6 - I've got the tricky old R1 tomorrow. Still on a high from 20 minutes yesterday. Onward & upward to R3 for you! Good luck & keep us posted.
