Week 8 has gone the way of the Dodo

So, life got in the way of Thursday, Friday AND Saturday's running, but you find a way.

Landed in Dublin at 4:20, Uber to the hotel, checked in with Mrs LeeU to let her know I had arrived safely, then straight off to the hotel gym.

As per the last time I was here, it was empty, jumped on a treadmill, Bluetooth headset on, started my Garmin and pressed play on the podcast.

I felt like I hadn't run in far too long (last run was Tuesday), I wanted to push myself, so I set off at a comfortable place 1kph faster than normal.

Laura is then telling me I had done 5 minutes, I was feeling the pace a little but I persevered, passed 10 minutes, I did slow a little (.5 kph) between 10 and 14 minutes but then upped the speed back to where I started, Laura is then telling me I had 5 minutes left, the last minute, as usual was run at my target 5k pace.

I'm more than happy with the results of pushing myself, I now know a sub 40 minute 5k is more than possible.

Week 9 starts Tuesday.

Happy running everyone.

Nah, the impressive thing is I'm now sat in the hotel bar, drinking a nice glass of Malbec while waiting for my steak.

Thank you though, I'm happy with today's run, so looking forward to graduating again.

I've been told I get seriously grumpy when I miss a run on run days, I honestly can't imagine what I was like when I couldn't run, well I can and I wasn't a nice person to be around at times.

Strange because I hated running at school, now I don't want to stop, was so tempted to do the extra 2 minutes tonight, but I didn't.

I know exactly what you mean. This running malarkey gets under your skin in a very positive way. Enjoy your running.

It was absolutely gorgeous, the Malbec wasnt bad either 😁

I'm going to blame you for all this, if you hadn't told me slow and steady 2 years ago I probably would have given in before the longer runs started. I would have not known what it's like to have a quiet head as I'm running, I'd never be thinking about a sub 40 minute 5k unless I was driving.

So, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
