1st run after injury

Hey everyone! πŸ‘‹πŸ» Been quiet on here as I took a week off due to a wee niggle in my groin. Anyway first run today and I’m pleased with how it went. 2nd time running 5k (1st time was on a treadmill) and I shaved off 4.41mins! Had to walk for a couple of minutes on last straight as the wind was in my face and my hip was getting a bit of an ache. Feel like I’m running so slow but happy with the pace as it’s faster than when I’m on the treadmill even though the treadmill feels faster πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Anyway hope everyone is doing ok, purposely not been reading posts for fear of wanting to run before I was fit!

That is great running - well done! You’re right to take it easy if sore. Good to see you back!

Very wise in not running until your "wee nigle on your groin had gone", good run for you today, I like the way you say that you have not been reading post as it would make you want to run before you were fit, which reminds me when I am out a walk on my non running days and not wearing running gear I am tempted to have a run when I see another runner πŸƒπŸΎ. 😊

Congratulations, both your pace and distance are better than mine so don't feel you are running to slow :-)

My last three consolidation runs have got slightly slower (but easier) I got weighed this morning for the first time since before Christmas and have put on 7 lbs, probably why I'm slowing down!

Thanks. I know how u feel with regards to gaining a bit of weight! I’m about 2 stones over what I’d like to weigh and keep telling myself I’ll find running a whole lot easier if I lost the weight but I’m fond of chocolate and cake and well, anything sweet tbh! πŸ™ˆ

Yay glad to see you back. And you're really knocking it out of the park with that time on a return run! Maybe the rest did you some good.

Keep up the good work!

Good to be back! Probably not going to run until Friday now as I’ve a bit on this week. Feeling a wee touch stiff tonight so perhaps a few days off will do good again. I will need to do some strengthening exercises for my hips I think.

I've got a niggly hip after my last run. Hoping it's gone by tomorrow.

Is niggly a word?

Haha yeah in my world niggly is most definitely a word! I think I’ve got a mild hip flexor strain as my symptoms sound very similar to what Dr Google descibes. Obviously if it continues I’ll have to seek actual medical advice πŸ˜‚ Hopefully ur feeling fit tomorrow and the niggle has gone 🀞🏼

Well done CJMumma and nearly 5 mins off your pace. Am-a-zing as the TV programme says. Keep stretching - strengthening exercises are a good idea too, but I really hate them and can't motivate myself to do them, though am sure they will help. Hope you will do better! Enjoy your running πŸ€—πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.

Yes thanks 😊 Definitely need to be a bit better with stretches (warming up and down 😬) and strengthening exercises can only benefit me surely

That's a great run after some time off, bet you enjoyed the post-run buzz!! Have you tried the dynamic stretches before you set off? I find them really good πŸ‘

Lunges and leg swings mostly but defo think I need to do much more than what I am! I’m stretching before I drop kids off at nursery (about 30 mins before run) so maybe I need to do them right before. I’m just concerned as I have a 2 hour window to get my run done, home and showered before picking up youngest from his nursery so hence why I stretch before I leave the house!

I do a few more than that, it was a link I saw on here but only takes a few minutes.. let me see if I can copy link..

runnersworld.com/health-inj...

For some reason not showing as a link but if you copy and paste into browser it seems to work.

I fully appreciate time being tight... wonder if you did them before you leave the house and then just a few of each before you set off running??
