Week 3

Hi everyone, I'm new to this community, and have just completed week 3,

I'm 57 and a couple of stone over weight

I could do with a little advice please.

I found the 3 minute runs quite tough this past week, and actually stopped 10 seconds early on one of the runs.

Should I do week 3 again, or should I attempt week 4?

I'd be very grateful for some thoughts.

Welcome to the forum and well done on getting started.

The guide to the plan is full of tips healthunlocked.com/couchto5...

The basic rule is that if you do not complete a workout, then have a rest day and repeat it.

You are probably going too fast. Find your easy conversational pace, as described in the guide.

Enjoy your journey.

Yep I think you're correct, slowed down this evening and completed both 3 min runs, thanks

I am 70 and overweight. If I was close to doing it I did the next run. A couple of times I was way off finishing the run part so repeated it this was because I had too long a gap between runs. I am becoming better at fitting in 3 runs a week. My daughter is doing it and she is a week ahead so there is an incentive to keep going.

Give it a go and move on to week 4.

Just go for it! I have just done week 4 day 1 and I was surprised your stamina builds I think I stopped a min early on the last running bit but kept up a good pace walking I guess that if by week 4 day 3 I’m still struggling then I’ll repeat that week till I’m completely happy to move up. I repeated week 2 it’s still a lot more than I’ve ever done before and figure that if I only brisk walk it’s better than being on the couch lol x good luck

Well done! Wouldn't worry too much about 10 secs, move on. But the total times of the runs should be done, as already said, maybe slow up especially when the going gets really tough...

Hi. I’m now on w5 r3 which I’m doing again as had to stop at 13 mins due to extreme heat, over 30 deg. Any runs I struggle at, I repeat until I feel happy with my performance. At the end of the day any run is an achievement. And it does get easier each week. Good luck 😀
