Ok so running has never been my forte but something I've always wished I could do and enjoy. I'm 40 at the end of September and currently carrying more weight than I care to admit so the plan to be not fat at 40 includes completing couch to 5k and improving upon it by completing regular park runs. I'm completing the runs so far on the treadmill at the gym, namely because the world isn't quite ready to see that just yet!
I've previously had a go at doing couch to 5km before but could never sort my breathing out and ended up quiting. So first two runs completed by keeping it slow and steady - I can work on speed later down the line.
Did my first run last Wednesday morning but couldn't bring myself to do my next run until yesterday afternoon, my poor joints were shrieking at me, my feet hurt and my boobs informed me of the requirement for a more suitable sports bra (sorry for the tmi!). Consequently ibuprofen obtained, new trainers bought and sports bra fitted prior to run number 2 yesterday and I'm pleased to say that something has had a positive effect as I'm planning on run 3 being tomorrow!
I can see how people get the running bug as I did quite enjoy yesterday's run, made a nice change not having a lung in each hand too!

Good for you! I'm in the same boat, turning 40 this year and wanted this to be the year I changed my life. I want to be fit and 40. I started C25K at the end of January, and just graduated a little over a week ago. It's an amazing journey, full of challenges and worth every struggle. You can do this! Good luck
I started a week ago and the right footwear and sports bra makes all the difference. I thought I was too fat to run, but turns out I am doing it! Well done xx
Well done on starting. If you want to get out there do it, no one notices just another runner 😀.
Also forget about your breathing. If you are going slowly enough it won't cause you too many problems at the start and it usually say sorts itself out around week 5 or 6. Basically just let it happen, don't overthink it - just like normal life.
