Just back from completing my 1st ever Parkrun at Roundhay Park, Leeds.
4 months or so ago I was struggling to do the first runs of C25k and never thought I'd complete the programme, never mind be enjoying my running and joining in at organised events!
Anyone just starting out, keep at it, it really does get easier, and at some point you'll suddenly realise you're enjoying yourself and looking forward to your runs.....honest!
Parkrun is as good as I'd read about on here, everyone really friendly, people of all ages and abilities and running in a group, although a little daunting at first (I've been going out at night so nobody saw me up to now) gave me a bit of a boost and I think I've just run a PB. According to my phone I was around 28mins, eagerly awaiting the email with my official time/place. π
Happy running everyone. π

Hi Wenderwoo.....I guess you're doing what I did and waiting till you think you're "good enough"?
Now I've done one, I wish I'd done it ages ago, there were loads of people walking and getting cheered on. Give it a go, or maybe find your local one and just go along and watch to see for yourself? As I said, I wish I'd done it ages ago, I'll look out for your 1st Parkrun post! ππ
Yes, youβre right, but I have read a lot about it recently (Iβve been on the IC) and can see that you donβt need to be Mo Farrah! Iβve just started back and had to go back to W4 (from W7), and Iβm taking baby steps for a week or two. But if I complete W4 this week I might just do W5R3 at a PR. Thanks for the motivation ππ
Sorry to hear you've been injured, hope you're on the mend.
Good on you for taking things steady and going back a bit, I had to start all over again twice due to knee pain but I'm so glad I kept going.
Keep taking those baby steps and I'm chuffed to bits if I've said anything that's motivated you...... I'll be looking out for that post! Good luck. π
Congrats! I did my fourth park run this morning and was still a bit anxious beforehand - enjoy the feel good feeling, hope it lasts all day like it does for me! thatβs a fab time tooππ»
Thanks, and well done on your fourth. For me the "feel good feeling" is the best bit about running, I started running after a few events last year left me struggling a bit and the running is such a boost, even more so today after Parkrun and I'm pretty sure it's going to last the day, if not longer! Keep on running!
Congratulations completing on your first park run! Itβs a lovely event isnβt it! My husband came with me for my first one and couldnβt believe it was free π Thatβs a fantastic time too! Well done you!
