Week 9 yayyyyyyyy!!!!

Did my first 30 minute run this evening. The first 12 minutes were pure hell but I settled down and I was very tempted to go for 5 km as I felt ok.

But then I realised what IannodaTruffe would have to say to that and thought better of it.......!!!😂😬🙈

Yeah, I know I am the resident party pooper!!!!

Well done, there is no rush.

You have a lifetime of running ahead, so why risk injury when you are still a very new runner?

Keep running, keep smiling.

Not a party pooper at all. Just a sensible word to those of us (me) who get hysterically over excited at the prospect of even running for more than a minute.

Thanks for your support.

Hey Jude I was wondering how you were getting on, well done only 2 more to go 😬!

I really struggled at first tonight but settled into it eventually. I’m not sure I’d have reached 5 km but I felt like I’d a little more left at the end. Which run are you on now?

I’ve just done W8 R3 😁 actually found it the hardest yet...don’t know why, but still felt happy after x

I know! I can’t believe it!!! What will I do without a run to tick off every other night? I’m surely not going to run 5 km several times a week. It’ll kill me!

Just stick to 3 30-minute runs per week, or similar. It's more about frequency and duration, not distance. Unless, of course, you feel you can graduate up to regular 5ks!!

True. Well I guess I’m not over week 9 yet. Still some work to do though I’m getting more aches and pains now on these longer runs. My knees in particular are suffering! I’m feeling my age right now. Hope your recovery is going ok.

You'll get there!! My recovery is coming along slowly but surely. Looking at restarting at the end of April, so long as the physiotherapist agrees!!

Exactly! We bow to the wisdom of IannodaTruffle. And it's good to know that you've got something in reserve still 😀

And it’s OK if you can’t do the 5k in 30 minutes. Know your limits! I’m running a 3.1 in 45 minutes because I can’t do long stretches without autoimmune problems.

I started beating myself up and then though- WTH, you couldn’t do a 90 second run in December without dying and now you’re doing 2 - 3 miles a few times a week with breaks. PROGRESS THAT MOST PEOPLE DON’T GET TO :)
