I just finished W9R2 and it was awful! I got a stomach ache (I had a few drinks for the first time in a while last night) while running and had to slow right down. I kept going for the 30 minutes but only made about 4 and a half km. I'm feeling so apprehensive when I've only got one run left before striking out on my own. W9R1 was crap as well. I feel so deflated
Week 9 blues.: I just finished W9R2 and it was... - Couch to 5K
Week 9 blues.
Oh come on! This is the final countdown, so be UP!
That's an order by the way 😁
Let's have a drop of Yazz. The only way is up baby for you and me now 🎶🎵
🏃♀️💪👍✔️🏅🍾🥂
No don't be deflated! You've done great and your nearly there. Remember ..."any run is better than no run at all" When the time arrives that your out on your own you'll surprise yourself, progressing onto stepping stones, speed ,stamina .
All these are pod casts for you to keep going, and you know what? you will !
Don't forget everyone one on this site have all been where you are and eventually we have all progressed. Soon you'll be going on to bridge210k and further !😀😀
Good luck, keep going and just enjoy it all !
Oh! and keep posting.
Happy running! 😀😀
Slow down.. take an extra rest day and just relax into the last run. Thirty minutes is all it takes.
This is a journey.. a great one, not an endurance test. Be kind to yourself
It’s normal to feel down around this time .....hang in there ...you have done the work, you really can and WILL do this
Go for it ....Believe you can do it and you will
Pick yourself a route with a downhill finish, when you are feeling low this will give you a massive puck up, feels like flying...
The goal is not 5k, its 30 minutes. Really this gets covered a lot. You're not expected to do a 30 minute 5k for W9R3.
And if you feel crap running after drinking the night before, how about not drinking the night before running, rather than thinking the running is the problem.
Now stop this!
You are doing brilliantly, think how far you've come and what you've achieved. 4.5k is a good distance and makes me think you might just be trying to run too fast.
For your graduation run I suggest you start off really, really slowly and just let it happen. Speed and distance do NOT matter. After graduation you can consolidate your 30 min runs and before long you will be running for a few more minutes and reach the 5k goal.
So take your rest day, then get your running shoes on and go for it.
Good luck on your graduation run. Make sure you let us know how it went.
Be proud of what you've achieved ... YOU CAN DO IT!
Thank you so much everyone, you're all lovely and have given me more faith to shake it off and puff my way to the final run!
Ha, you ran for 30 mins with a stomach ache...That shows gumption. You didn't give up you still did the run.
As Rignold says, the aim of this program is not running 5k in 30 minutes, just running for 30 mins is all that is required...You can work on increasing your speed or distance once you have mastered that 30 minute run.
We celebrate that we have come from zero running to 30 minutes of continuous running..its quite a feat..distance is irrelevant. 😆
Relax and enjoy your Graduation run.😊x
Hey pkjemmott89 ...do not despair......you did the run & that’s what counts...not only that but you covered 4.5k!!!!! That is absolutely nothing to despair about...the programme is designed to get you running for 30 minutes, distance & speed will come after graduation!!! I’m a graduate & I can’t do 5k in 30 mins yet, but I flippin will do eventually...even though you had a few drinks last night, you still had the urge to go out & do the run...I’m not joking when I say this, your graduation run will be amazing..you can run for 30 minutes & deserve a badge for it...don’t be too hard on yourself...make sure you hydrate well the day before your next run & the day of...eat a banana & get yourself up on that podium afterwards...get that chin up & go for it 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Like life, running has its ups & downs. And Rignold probably has some of the most humorous comments on this forum. AND he didn't even mention squats.
No reason to feel down, you're doing well
Don't be so hard on yourself. You are running for 30 minutes. That is an amazing achievement. Keep running and be proud of yourself 🙋🏻
One run to the podium and the worlds your oyster, pecker up gal you've had a bad day at the office but go out and enjoy the next one, slow and steady and you'll be fine
I had a couple of crappy runs in those last weeks. I don't think it's uncommon. And having graduated nearly 3 months ago, I still have the occasional crappy one. Sometimes your body just isn't into it. Chalk it up as a learning experience and carry on with the rest of your runs. Well done for getting to week 9!
Crap runs happen.... yours just came a bit later that's all. Give yourself a hug, an extra days rest and go again... p.s. I tried hangover running once - seriously the worse idea known to man!
Fingertips are close to the graduation bling. Happy running next time
