Just getting started

I'm a Mummy of 3 young boys in my mid 30s who has just started the Couch to 5K program. I want to get fitter to keep up with my boys rather than to specifically lose weight. I also think it will help me mentally. My husband has gone back to swimming regularly and I've seen how it has helped him. I need to juggle my fitness routine around work and childcare.

Well done you! Any energy you have left after looking after three youngsters, (and a husband) will be well spent doing the program. Hope that you enjoy it.

What age are your boys? I’m a mum of 3 too- 11, 9 and 5. They enjoy coming on runs with me- usually they scoot. We just go around our local residential area but I’m going to run along our seafront too!

I have set up a small group of other mums that now run with me- via my local FB community page. That’s a brilliant way to stay motivated I have found!

I’ve also done things like walked the kids to school, then ran home, and I’ve done early morning ones before my husband goes to work.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way! You can do this!!

Good luck x

Thanks!

They are 7, 4 & 9 months. My eldest wants to run with me and i will let him but I'll need to change my route so i run past home as i doubt he'll last till the end.

I've only just begun and it's half term so I'll see how i fit it into my routine when I'm back to work next week.

Welcome! I’m a mum of 2 boys and am half way through week 2. It’s sometimes difficult to fit the runs in around all the other commitments, but I guarantee you’ll feel so much better for having done it #gomums

If you have a partner at home, the easiest way is to get up an hour earlier and get your runs done before anyone else is awake. It takes a bit of getting used to the first week, but it is a great kickstart to the day. By the time everyone else starts coming awake you are energised, showered and full of life.
