I absolutely cannot run whatsoever! I can do any other exercise but running is just so hard on my lungs so I decided yesterday I would try this ! Today I managed the 2nd day and it really worked for me :) happy happy ... I did look in forget into the weeks and not going to lie to run for 30 mins seems impossible :D

Hello and welcome, a great start, well done!

But remember this programme requires you to take a rest day after a run day.

Here is some really great information about C 25k well worth reading.

Come back and post regularly, you will get encouragement, support and advice from forum friends😃👍🏼

Welcome to the Forum Dan :)

I didn't even think of getting to thirty minutes. Just finishing week three and MAYBE part of week four was my dream. Two forms of Asthma, screwed footbones, never ran more than a hundred paces in my life, thirty pounds overweight, 56 year old having smoked pretty heavily for 38 of them...but, if you get through the first day, graduation is eminently possible :)

Individuals vary of course, but honestly do consider observing the Rest Days. Injury sucks, and the RD is an important part of the programme.

Wishing you many happy miles in your future ☺

Thankyou ! I also suffer from asthma the reason I’ve always avoided running and I’m guessing why i just can’t do it !! Yes I will definitely take the RD advise from all 🙊 guess I got a little run happy ! Thanks John and well done you! That’s amazing

My biggest problem now is forcing myself to STOP running when the time is up :) I popped a hip in November and am darn lucky to be able to even walk again let alone run. I decided to be extremely cautious and start from scratch even though amazingly enough I still retained a lot of my fitness level.

The urge to do "just a little longer" is powerful, but honestly hazerdous. I'm now content with the idea that if I just relax I will have many more years to run and enjoy it more anyway - my only competition is myself :)

Wow! I found that today just in day 2 ! It’s a really good programme , shame I’ve only just come across it !

Please stop running haha :) good job!

Welcome and great start!

The program really does work and our bodies are far more adaptable than I had realised. Down load the app or Podcasts and allow Laura's voice( or one of the other voices) to take you along one-run at a time.

Slow and steady wins the day - you will do it! 😄

You can do other activities on non-run days, lots to choose from 👍🏼

I know you mean other, non-impact exercise on non-run days, but there's also a) browsing this forum and b) browsing running gear and c) daydreaming about running :D that you can do on those days >_< :)

Seriously though dan34 it's because of the impactful nature really that we have to rest from running at least every other day - if it helps, you can think of those days as part of the training because your body does its repair and gets stronger on those days.

It's so great that you felt able to run but your bones etc are always a couple of weeks behind! Take care of them and run for many more years to come :)

Ha ha, yes they are good non run, non impact activities too........but browsing the forum, shopping for gear and daydreaming are also good on run days 🤣🤣🤣🤣

PS - Its been at the very least a year since I had to puff on either of my two asthma inhaler - I don't even know where they got to - and I only started this programme June 1st '16 :)

Juicy-Ju is our go-to heroine running wise and she has asthma, as I think one or two others do on here, if mem'ry serves

You only go very slow for this programme, there's absolutely no rush whatsoever.

Have fun!

I think you mean Ju-Ju Miss W ??? : )

It is confusing...Mother does NOT approve of JUICY-ju, while the eminently respectable and graceful JU-ju is always welcome to join us for Ascot Week.! (White Tie )

I hate Autocorrect. I messaged an old high School sweetheart who surfaced on FB a while back in answer to her :

"Do you think I have changed much in the last 32 years? " (yes...I know....lol...)

Anyway - she genuinely DID look great in her photos, and I could honestly message back :

"'Wow! - you still look fab!"

Or at least that is what I wanted to do - bloody autocorrect changed it without me noticing to ;

"Wow! you still look fat!"

I have a feeling it will be another 32 years before she contacts me again... : (

Those of us who have been here a while knew the lady in question before she made a tactful name change........ju-ju, that is.

Autocorrect can get you into trouble, for sure.
