So, long day at work, I find running after work really hard but it’s only week 1 after all

Got home 4.30 text from friend, “What time are we going?”

5pm see you there.

Warm up walk chatting away, first run, we didn’t go off quite so fast, walk phew run again…..and until the end.

We managed to chat all the way round even though a bit breathless and faster than I usually run.

Willow passed today but will come with us Saturday,

That was great, arrived home beetroot red, dripping with sweat and happy 😃

If you are new to running keep it slow, my friend is a lot younger than me and will always be faster but i’m chuffed to be able to keep up so far

Happy running all, the weekend is nearly here

You are doing well and good on you for getting started . I always laugh to myself as I walk back into the village after a run , I see the same man after each run feeding his flock with his sheep dog....... I am always beetroot red, sweaty and a little puffed like you .... I bet he thinks thank goodness she is not a runner if she looks like that after a walk!

That’s a lovely story I wonder what he’s really thinking? Willow and I have been running for a couple of years but are doing it again as my friend wants to build her fitness and run

Thank you so much for asking . Today was a good day... Hurts still but not so bad. Work tomorrow and hoping it holds as my walking holiday starts this weekend !

Yes after 2+ years running I know what i can do and what’s not possible, at the moment it feels good to stretch myself a bit, when we first started c25k we were pushing ourselves really hard to run very slowly for one minute lately i’ve been plodding around without hardly breathing hard and running less and less so this has brought back my enthusiasm

Well done, Sola! I think it’s great that you are supporting your friend. It sounds like you are enjoying Couch to 5K Part 2! Anything that will reignite your enthusiasm has to be good 👏👍

Thanks Jools,it’s the fun and enthusiasm that goes with it being new to her that is so great, she can’t wait til Saturday and then next wednesday we are going to another town and coming back over the downs so will do the app and walk the rest of the way home, she really said it wasn’t far and often walks it so i asked her how far and she replied about 12k, 😂 we are enjoying g c25k and because she’s younger and faster it’s perfect for me

12K not far 😂 I don’t think I’ve ever walked that far!

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate in reply toJools2020

I’m not sure i have either she reckons it’ll take about an hour and a half, it took me longer than that to run 10k

Last time I ran 10K - yes, it was 90 minutes. I don’t think I could walk that fast without injuring myself - I’ve tried over a 5K walk with a friend and wasn’t able to run for 2 weeks, I hurt my hip.

We will slow down because it’s rough track we agreed that if we go too fast one of us will fall over, I think it’s probably less it’s 12 k round the roads and we are coming over the downs so cutting a lot out, it will be interesting to find out

Basically you are running intervals. Your VO2 Max will love that!

SueAppleRunGraduate in reply toFrizzbomb67

V02max loved run 1 and didn’t like run 2 maybe because was more tired at end of day, I’m loving the intervals though

That is so lovely that you are supporting your friend into doing c25k. Hats off to you for running after work as well - maybe this will establish a new pattern for you as well?

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate in reply toFionamags

That’s what i’m hoping, her enthusiasm is ridiculous, next Wednesday we are going over the downs, we’ll do week 2 run 2 then walk the rest of the way home
