That was hard

Wk4r2 that was the hardest run for me since wk1r2. I think I pushed it too hard. I am doing abit too much in January as I am doing something every day in January to try and close all off the rings on my Apple Watch. So bit of a rest is required before my run on Tuesday. Wish me look it is going to be hard.

Just remember to listen to your body rather than the technology!! Good luck!

Good luck and take it easy. I never run more than 3 times a week. Gotta rest those aching bones properly. Learnt that lesson early on.

What are you doing on your non run days? How did you overdo your run? Go out too fast?

Strength exercise, swimming & body combat not all on the same night. Just a goal I set myself to kick start my weight loss and fitness campaign. Just went far to fast too quick. I completed it but I was blowing hard by the end.

That's a lot of cardio. 3 days running plus swimming plus body combat. I'm not going to suggest you are overtraining, because that is a word that gets bandied around far too much and at our levels of exercise it is a nonsense. Only elite athletes risk overtraining.

However, you do need to take care not to overload your central nervous system if you pile on a ****-ton of cardio from a standing start. You also need to be compensating with sleep and food. I realise weight loss is one of your goals, but you will achieve that better by fuelling your exercise rather than being in too great a deficit. LOTS of protein to maintain lean muscle mass and lots of quality sleep. Recovery is more about food and sleep than it is about having days off.

I am only looking to do this for January then I will be easing off back to regular exercise and rest routine. I hear what your saying and I am keen to do it right. So will talk to the pt and see if he thinks I need to back things off a little.

I'm not suggesting you back off. Just bring your eating and sleeping up to accomodate the work.

You might be an Unfitwestie but listen to the others and listen to your body.

You've stuck it to W4, don't burn yourself out or do yourself an injury and spoil your good work.

Slow and steady is the way forward, and always take your rest days.

Well done for getting to W4 ... happy running!

Same - had an Apple Watch for Christmas. Love the way it nags you on rest days 😅 I’m on a good streak at the mo but have found myself walking up and down landing whilst brushing teeth to close last ring 😏

I have perfect 3 rings for the first three weeks In January. Only 10 days to go for the perfect month.
