First not-very-successful run

Hello everyone, I'm new here, currently on week 4.

Today was my third run, had to switch to walking for some time in the middle of the third period (that is 3 minutes of run). Since it's the first time it happens, I'm a bit perplexed about should I repeat a run, a week, or simply go along to week 5, where the first run looks, in fact, more simple than week 4. Not the slightest idea of how am I going to manage the third one, but looks like that thought has never stopped anyone here to achieve it. Maybe I'll proceed to week 5 now and see when I get stuck completely.

Bought my running trainers only yesterday, used to run in hiking boots before, which felt surprisingly fine.

Why not just have another go at run 3? If you've been running in hiking boots you must be capable of anything.

Maybe the change of footwear has something to do with it--you might have been running faster than you were used to.

Thank you MickGJ!

The hiking boots were Merrels, not actually heavy, I use them for nordic walking.

It it certainly wise to repeat a run, maybe I'm too anxious to complete the program and try "Zombies, Run!".

I’d say try the same run again. It doesn’t matter does it? And that way you can go into W5 positively because you will have succeeded 👍🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Thank you Liz. You definitely have a point, I suppose the attitude is crucial.

Maybe you are running too fast. Try slowing down as you will be amazed at the difference it can make especially for the longer runs ahead.

Keep on running 🏃🏻‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️

Thank you! I actually have the impression of running very slowly since the beginning of week 4, but that's OK! Maybe the pace wasn't consistent.

Do the run again and this time nail it. Slow down and then slower still. Positive mind set, enjoy the success.

You can do this!

Thank you! I like the idea of nailing it :)

Hi bitseybloom ...welcome to the forum...we like a new member & always look forward to hearing all about their journeys & helping them along...well done on getting to week 4...I personally would repeat this run, put it down to practice, all that adds up, as does the stamina you’re building up with each run...don’t look to far ahead & definitely don’t worry about w5r3...you will be ready for that one when you get there...it may help to read old posts from other members to see that lots of us have had to push extra hard to get from week to week...keep running, enjoy it & keep posting

Hi Mummycav, thank you for the encouragement! I'll follow your advice. I read the community since I began the program and it helps me very much, although I didn't actually have any difficulty until today.

That’s a good sign then, you really can do it..maybe you started a bit fast, or maybe it was cold? Lots of things can affect a run...listen to your body & if needs be take an extra rest day, or a longer warm up? 5 mins isn’t long enough for me, so I do between 7 & 10 minutes, especially when it’s cold...I’m sure this is just a one off & you’ll be fine next time out 😉

I agree about a longer warm up, 5 minutes is a bit strict, right now I just walk a bit before turning the application on and after the program it'll be just listening to the body.

As the others say, repeat that run.
