I'm back! For the third time.

First time I got to week 5 or something. Second time, last Nov, I made it all the way to week 9 run 2. Then went on holiday, and when I got back it was cold, dark and raining. I can only run outside during lunch hours, due to work/children/life, and not in the rain because it gets my hearing aids wet (I could buy ear muffs, I suppose...)

Anyway, as it is finally nicer weather, third time, here were go! Finished week 1 run 1 yesterday and felt good and almost as though I could skip a few runs and start week 3 next time. But then had a 1.5 hr walk that I was not planning on. So now I ache, everywhere. But I think that was the walk...

Welcome back.

If you still have some residual fitness from last time, of course you can adapt the plan to suit you, but I always hesitate to encourage people to miss runs. I came to C25K with apparently above average fitness, found the early stages very easy and was tempted to jump on a bit, but actually, nine weeks is not a very long time to wait (if you are impatient, running may not be the most appropriate pastime for you) and so I decided to stick to the plan. The more I have learned over the years the more I understand and believe in the slow and steady approach to recreational running.

What is the rush? Build your strength and stamina gently and safely, especially if a one and achalf hour walk makes you ache all over.

Take it steady, keep posting and we will keep you running.

Arguably running may teach patience to the impatient... although when it does, it often seems to be the hard way via injury...

How about a Buff (or similar) to cover your ears/aids? Lots of us use them to keep ears warm in nippy weather... and we could add 'hearing aid protector' to the long list of uses for buffs!

Do let us know how you get on if you try it because a) my Dad is getting back into running and has acquired a hearing aid (and we went out in the rain although as he didn't take much notice of me shouting "Slow down!" after him disappearing into the distance maybe he wasn't wearing it, ahem) and b) because running in the rain is something lots of us find, to our surprise, very enjoyable.

Well done for coming back to the fold - nice to see you back again. The bad weather can be off-putting but at Oldfloss ’s advice ages ago, I bought two lifesaving pieces of kit - one a running hat and the second a running buff, which I though sounded a bit of a perversion, but no it’s not!

Also I don’t know if you’ve seen them but some cycling shops have something called a Belgian cap which has ear flaps for winter coverage, but I think could work for your hearing aids.

I always thought I could never run in the rain, but surprisingly provided it's not blowing a hoolie, it’s quite refreshing and stops you getting mega hot.

Brilliant that you’re back and I hope you find out your running recipe this time around. Good luck and happy running
