Week 2 Run 1 - when 90 seconds feels like 60 seconds

Was a bit nervous about the increase to 90 seconds of running this week, but as it happened it felt no more uncomfortable than the 60 seconds of running in week 1. That said I was grateful for the 2 mins of walking!

I think I benefited from the 2 days rest over the weekend so will try stick with the Mon, wed, Fri run regime.

How's it going for others on week 2?

Cheers

P

I have also just completed week 2 Run 1 and was much easier than expected. At what speed do you run?

Good question and to be honest I have no idea! I don't have any gadgets on me that tells me.

Probably best described as one step up from a walk - confirmed the other day when I managed to overtake a man walking his dog!

I'm doing my week 2 run tomorrow and need to be out of my bed at half five... yikes but relived to hear that 90 seconds isn't tooooooooooooo bad 🤓

Hello smithp24 I did week 2 run2 last night and so far so good- I’m still trying to find a pace - although have taken the forum advice of slow which is allowing me to be not too breathless and so happy and positive to continue-early days...

Take it slow and steady. Paceing yourself will be easier with longer runs. Couple of months ago I was doing week 6, but illness and injury got me back to the beginning. I felt that around week 4 I found my pace. For me every run needed first 2-3 min to get to the correct pace.

It will come with time and practice ;)

Happy running!

Well done. I felt the step up tonight from W1 but still reasonably comfortable.

Well done determined bear. I found the first run ok once I knew I could do it. Due to do R2 tonight. I did try following Laura's breathing tip but I might have got it wrong, I was running out of breath before getting to the 4th step. Went back to my own breathing and it was ok. Hope to hear about your r2

I couldn't do the breathing as suggested, too much to concentrate on when my focus is trying to run for 90 seconds! Lol Now that I have proven I can do it, I'm confident about R2&3 barring no injuries. I'm not confident at all about W3 but I'm hoping this will alter after completing week 2. Good luck tonight with R2, which I'm due to do on Wednesday.

Well done! Sometimes I’m sure 2 rest days are helpful and I often take 2 between runs. Means I’m going to take longer than 9 weeks to finish programme, but who cares 😄

Congratulations on finishing W2R1!!!

I'm running only 2x per week. My first 90 sec felt longer than runs in week 1, but following jogging part were good. I feel I could do a bit kess of walking in between, but I'm a good girl sticking to what I am told :P

Happy running!

Hello thanks for sharing your progress. I did w2 R1 on Sunday. I did notice the extra time but once I realised I could do it and the recovery time was enough my attitude changed and I felt better. I love the Coll down walk at the end!

That was kind of like my experience, although I felt the 2 minutes between runs was shorter than the minute and a half run.

Definitely think the Minday, Wednesday, Friday with the Weekend break is the best workout regime.
