Just sat having a coffee after completing the Week 1 Run 2. As a non-runner, I am really enjoying the programme so far and really pleased with myself for getting out the front door. I admit I was worried when I first did it what people thought of me as I am 19 stone.
During the minute run's, I am constantly thinking when will the time be up for the next brisk walk. Is this normal? After the workout, I then feel I could do another two minutes. I really want to get into running as I have just moved near the countryside with loads of nice routes.
Any advice on how to stop counting down the seconds to the walks?

Do you listen to music ? That could be a good distraction for you. Just follow the plan and don’t increase the runs until you are told to. You’ll be amazed what you can achieve.
Try listening to some music to distract you. It will get easier, don't be too hard on yourself! Counting things as you go, anything to take your mind off the time!
In Week 1 I think it's quite natural to be counting down the seconds, to be honest! But sooner or later will come the voice telling you to slow down to a walk and it'll take you by surprise cos you didn't realise you'd nearly finished the run. Savour that moment when it comes! And well done for getting started, that's the hardest part.
Hi. I just completed my very first run. I thought people would laugh at me too. Especially seeing as I run in my jeans. Seriously. I’ll get some suitable clothing this week. The reoccurring reference to just getting out the door seems to be commonplace. So I think that the biggest hurdle is not one of being in bad shape or not having the correct clothing but one of having the right mental attitude to just have a go regardless of the results. It took me all day to get my sneakers on and just have a go. And I did it. Now bring on the next run.
Well done to you too. I totally get where you are coming from, on my first run I spent 30 minutes wondering if I was wearing my phone armband right and that was before I stepped out the door.
Ha. That’s funny. Thought I was gonna ache like hell today but not so. Mind, all I do all day is carry stuff up and down ladders so maybe have some advantage there.
Still gotta get some decent running gear. Thing is, I’m 6’2” and I will definitely get laughed at if I put a pair of running tights on. Lol
