It was this morning and it went well. Got to 30 mins, then kept on for another 3 ( I know I shouldn't have but I was feeling good!) to get the 5k done.
So.. heres the thing for me. A few weeks ago I could make a couple of hundred metres without stopping. Now a whole 5000!
Thankyou all for your encouragement and especially mentors old floss and ianodatruffe. Also thanks MJ!
Lots of good posts which are fun to read, my favourite being the poster who used the phrase "Running into my Thoughts". Great!
So what have I learned so far:
1. I am still a beginner but have a growing addiction to this.
2. Invest early in good shoes. It's really beneficial.
3. If you are hurting then slow down.
4. Listen to your body not the doubting voice. You know the one " Not sure I'm going to do this" " I could always give up and try again tomorrow" "You're not really a runner" etc.
Woo hoo is all I can childishly say. Oh and. " What do I do to get my badge?"
What next? My son ( he of 22 years and two marathons) is down this weekend and has suggested we do a park run. I think that is on the cards.
Thanks all, and as they say on X factor " It's been a journey"
