Hello everybody and welcome to November !!

Please leave your username here for me, so we can organise your well deserved Graduation badge.

Please feel free to download and save the Graduation badge that has been kindly designed by RunaroundSue

We will try not to leave you waiting too long as we know how great they feel when they arrive.

We would like to clarify the position of earning your Graduation badge.

To get your badge you will have completed the full training podcasts and be able to run for 30 min.

It does NOT matter if you cannot run 5km, you are a graduate after running 30 min for three times.

So it is fair to everybody, please do not ask for your badge until you have completed week 9 run 3

Iam so pleased to have achieved this as I had so many internal arguements with myself not to do it at 50 and overweight with three kids someone who simply has not done proper excersice other than wlk the dog when I think I was just kidding myself I was fit I am pleased to say I just completed my second park run. Afternoon OldFloss

I’m proud to say I graduated today W9R3 was soooooo hard

I did it by completing the Poppy Run - it was a VERY hilly course

I may well have come a long way in the past 9 weeks but the run made me realise how far I still have to go

I followed your mantra Slow and steady

On and on I ran Slow and even slower - I could definitely walk quicker at times

But complete it I did in a disappointing 53 mins

So there’s my next challenge sorted - hills and speed

Yippeee!!! I did it! So pleased to have finished W9 R3! Hoped to complete on Sat but just after hearing Laura tell me I was halfway, I bumped into a friend I hadn’t seen for ages and stopped for about 5 mins to chat. I did hit the pause button and then did the second half but didn’t think it really counted so went out again and did it!

Had a great reception from my husband and kids when I came back in through the door.

Do you do these monthly?

Also by the final week is there a ratio to reach in terms of steps per minute as I am not convinced I am running. I joked on the boards I am trotting to 5K. I am definitely not walking but going so slow at times I am being caught by walkers, admittedly fit walkers . Is this something you have come across before?

If you are running for 30 minutes..however slowly... three times, in three runs, by Week 9 of C25K... you become a Graduate. No step ratio needed

Yes.. every month... we award the Graduate badges to those who have completed the programme... and yes,,, folk can be very slow Slow is fine

That is good to know but I suppose my concern wasn't so much that I become so slow from a distance that I look like I am stopped it is more that by the end I no longer felt like I was running, which is more of a concern. I suppose you just know when something isn't right. It is a little like when you play a record on the wrong speed it can sound like it is plodding and I suppose that is how I felt, like a single played at 33 instead of 45. My original plan was March/April but moved forward to Dec 31st so we'll see how my amended forecast goes. I did not take it seriously when I first started but only because I never thought I would get past 5 mins but now I have it has switched a light on inside me not just to finish but finish well, if possible.

Thank you - all the encouraging posts here have really helped keep me going. Mind over matter! Especially for someone giving running a go for the first time at the ripe old age of 65! Don’t suppose I’ll ever do 5k in 30 mins but was thrilled with my PB of 36m 24s, though that was two weeks ago and I haven’t managed to replicate it yet 🙀

I completed my C25K final run on Friday 17 November, and from Monday 20 November have started the NHS C25K+ series. First thing I discovered? That I've been running rather faster than 160 bpm most of the last few weeks.

Also ran my first timed miles last week in something like 25 years. First was 8'47", second (a few days later) was 7'50". All in all, a very satisfying week for this runner!!

Well, I did it! Today I completed week 9 run 3 by completing my first parkrun - no pressure at all! Managed to achieve 2 firsts......running 5k in 34 minutes and running for over 30 minutes.

Cannot tell you how I felt ....from zero - hero in my own little world.
